  1. 1. Gene : on the origin, function and development of sedentary Iron Age settlement in northern Sweden

    Author : Per H. Ramqvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; sedentary; settlement; colonization; internal development; origin; development; three-aisled long-houses; house construction; room division; inter-regional structure; iron forging; bronze casting; Järnåldern;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with questions concerning the sedentary settlement in central Norrland: its origins, function and development. This type of settlement appears at the start of our calendar. The material comprises an almost fully excavated farmstead from the Early Iron Age (1-600 A.D. READ MORE

  2. 2. The structure of epsilon-strongly group graded rings

    Author : Daniel Lännström; Johan Öinert; Stefan Wagner; Patrik Lundström; Gene Abrams; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; group graded ring; Leavitt path algebra; partial crossedproduct; Cuntz-Pimsner ring; von Neumann regular ring; non-unital ring; Mathematics and applications; Matematik med tillämpningar;

    Abstract : The development of a general theory of strongly group graded rings was initiated by Dade, Năstăsescu and Van Oystaeyen in the 1980s, and since then numerous structural results have been established.  In this thesis we develop a general theory of so-called (nearly) epsilon-strongly group graded rings which were recently introduced by Nystedt, Öinert and Pinedo and which generalize strongly group graded rings. 3. 3. Tripeptidyl-Peptidase II : Structure, Function and Gene Regulation

    Author : Ann-Christin Lindås; Birgitta Tomkinson; Mikael Widersten; Ralf Morgenstern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochemistry; gene regulation; protein expression; enzyme kinetics; tripeptidyl-peptidase II; proteasome; intracellular protein degradation; exopeptidase; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The protein degradation process is of vital importance for the cell to maintain cellular functions. An important enzyme in this process is the multimeric tripeptidyl-peptidase II (TPP II). It removes tripeptides from a free N-terminus of the substrates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chitosan Polyplexes as Non-Viral Gene Delivery Systems : Structure-Property Relationships and In Vivo Efficiency

    Author : Magnus Köping-Höggård; Per Artursson; Jean-Paul Behr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; gene therapy; gene delivery; non-viral; polyplex; chitosan; chitosan oligomers; polyethylenimine; plasmid DNA; lung; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis was to develop and optimize delivery systems for plasmid DNA (pDNA) based on biocompatible polymers, in particular chitosan, suitable for non-viral gene therapy. At the onset of this thesis, studies had reported conflicting results on the efficiency of chitosan-based gene delivery systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Collaborating and communicating in new media - wiki's, social networks and blogs : a qualitative and quantitative approach

    Author : Gené van Heerden; Arthur Money; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Industriell marknadsföring; Industrial Marketing;

    Abstract : The Web 2.0 environment has created a platform where the power and voice have shifted from organization to market. Communities, networks and the developments in information communication technologies have enabled the average consumer to become an active participant in creating and recreating value. READ MORE
