  2. 2. Enteric adenovirus type 41 : genome organization and specific detection procedures

    Author : Annika Allard; Göran Wadell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EAd Ad41 EIA E1B detection PCR;

    Abstract : Enteric adenoviruses (EAd) types 40 and 41 (Ad40 and Ad41) representing subgenus F, are primary pathogens of children being second only to rotaviruses as the most important cause of infantile diarrhea.The EAds differ from all other adenoviruses in their inability to grow in most conventional established cell lines and have been suggested to be deficient in some early gene functions since they could be complemented by Ad 5 early regions EIA and E1B. Abstract : This thesis focuses on the genomic study of symbionts of two different groups of hymenopterans: bees and ants. Both groups of insects have major ecological impact, and investigating their microbiomes increases our understanding of their health, diversity and evolution. READ MORE

  4. 4. Population Genetics and Genome Organization of Norway Spruce

    Author : Hanna Larsson; Martin Lascoux; Bruno Fady; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Picea abies; demographic history; linkage disequilibrium; HMPR; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär funktionsgenomik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Functional Genomics;

    Abstract : Understanding the underlying genetic causes of adaptation to local conditions is one of the main goals of population genetics. A strong latitudinal cline in the phenotypic trait of bud set is observed in present day populations of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst). READ MORE

  5. 5. BEN-solo proteins in genome architecture and function

    Author : Malin Ueberschär; Qi Dai; Mattias Mannervik; Nicola Iovino; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene regulation; transcription; insulators; genome architecture; Polymerase II pausing; chromatin; Drosophila development; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : Eukaryotic genomes are organized in a complex manner inside the nucleus of each cell. Chromatin insulators are DNA elements that help to fold the linear DNA fiber in three-dimensional space and partition regulatory gene units. READ MORE
