    Author : Nicolas Pignier; Ciarán O'Reilly; Susann Boij; Gwenael Gabard; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sound propagation; sound generation; ground vehicle; aeroacoustics; aerodynamics; Kirchhoff approximation; detached eddy simulation; Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings; ljudutberdning; ljudalstring; markfordon; aeroakustik; aerodynamik; Kirchhoff approximation; detached eddy simulation; Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves. 2. 2. Numerical Investigation of Unsteady Crosswind Aerodynamics for Ground Vehicles

    Author : Tristan Favre; Gunilla Efraimsson; Mattias Chevalier; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aerodynamics; Vehicle Aerodynamics; Unsteady Aerodynamics; Crosswind; Unsteady Crosswind Aerodynamics; Detached-Eddy Simulations; DES; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Ground vehicles are subjected to crosswind from various origins such as weather, topography of the ambient environment (land, forest, tunnels, high bushes...) or surrounding traffic. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reconfigurable Motion Control Systems for Over-Actuated Road Vehicles

    Author : Leo Laine; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; over-actuated; road vehicle; reconfigurable; control allocation; hybrid electric vehicle; motion control system;

    Abstract : Over-actuated systems, such as today's road vehicle configurations, have more motion actuators than controlled motions. For example, a passenger car has a combustion engine and four mechanical brakes, all of which can be used individually to correct any error in yaw rate when the vehicle becomes under- or oversteered. Abstract : In a society where environmental noise is becoming a major health and economical concern, sound emissions are an increasingly critical design factor for vehicle manufacturers. With about a quarter of the European population living close to roads with heavy traffic, traffic noise in urban landscapes has to be addressed first. READ MORE
