Abstract :
A composition algebra is a non-zero algebra endowed with a strictly non-degenerate, multiplicative quadratic form. Finite-dimensional composition algebras exist only in dimension 1, 2, 4 and 8 and are in general not associative or unital. Over the real numbers, such algebras are division algebras if and only if they are absolute valued, i.e. READ MORE

Abstract :
This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mental training; motor training; novices; imaging; athletes; fMRI; internal imagery; motor representation; brain systems; practice; learning; transfer; active; Physiology; Fysiologi;
Abstract :
Mental training has been studied extensively for the past century but we are still not completely sure how it affects brain and behavior. The aim of this doctoral thesis was to examine one aspect of mental training i.e. motor imagery. READ MORE

Keywords : Young drivers; passengers; crash risk; group processes; Unga förare; passagerare; olycksrisk; grupprocesser; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP;
Abstract :
The overall aim was to elucidate the effects of vehicle passengers on young drivers. This generated two specific aims and four papers. The first aim was to investigate the crash risk for young drivers with passengers and to establish whether such accidents involve any special circumstances compared to those that occur without passengers. Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complex affine varieties; algebraic group actions of C^ and C^*; locally nilpotent derivations; graded algebras; principal bundles; Russell s hypersurface;
Abstract :
This thesis consists of two papers and a summary. The papers both deal with affine algebraic complex varieties, and in particular such varieties in dimension three that have a non-trivial action of one of the one-dimensional algebraic groups Ga := (C, +) and Gm := (C*, ·). READ MORE
