1. Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor : modelling
Abstract : Anaerobic treatment is widely used around the world as a biological stage in both domestic and industrial wastewater-treatment plants. The two principal advantages of anaerobic over aerobic treatment are the production of biogas, which can be used as fuel, and the lower rate of biomass production, which results in lower maintenance costs for the plant. 2. Delamination in APS applied thermal barrier coatings : life modelling
Abstract : Thermal barrier coatings, TBCs, are used in gas turbines as a thermal shield resulting in lower temperature in coated components. The decrease of temperature allows higher gas temperatures in the turbine, which increase the efficiency. READ MORE

3. Failure of thermal barrier coatings under thermal and mechanical fatigue loading : microstructural observations and modelling aspects
Abstract : Industrial and air-borne gas turbine hot components suffer from creep, oxidation, corrosion and microstructural degradation if not shielded from the hot and aggressive combustion gases. Two major strategies commercially available are adopted; film cooling by pressurised air and application of protective coatings. READ MORE

4. Kinetic and thermodynamic modelling of ternary nanowire growth
Abstract : Among nanoscale structures of different shapes and dimensions nanowires are one of the most promising because of its truly unique properties different from their bulk counterparts. The energy quantization, perfect defect-free structure, and the possibility to grow them within the miscibility gap in combination with the benefits of bottom-up design and the possibility of integration on silicon substrates make nanowires ideal candidates for applications in optoelectronics, biotechnology and energy harvesting. 5. Closing the Loop by Combining UASB Reactor and Reactive Bed Filetr Technology for wastewater Treatment : Modelling and Practical Approaches
Abstract : A laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor followed by a packed bed reactor (PBR) filled with Sorbulite® in the lower part and Polonite® in the upper part was used to treat household wastewater in a 50-week experiment. A model was developed to describe the performance of the UASB reactor, including mass transfer through the film around anaerobic granules, intra-particle diffusion and bioconversion of the substrate.
