  1. 1. Some numerical and analytical methods for equations of wave propagation and kinetic theory

    Author : Eva Mossberg; Alexander Bobylev; Giovanni Russo; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; wave propagation; finite difference metods high order methods; Landau-Fokker-Planck equation; Monte-Carlo simulations; Boltzmann equation; hard sphere model; eigenvalue problem; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of two different parts, related to two different fields in mathematical physics: wave propagation and kinetic theory of gases. Various mathematical and computational problems for equations from these areas are treated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Verification of Distributed Erlang Programs using Testing, Model Checking and Theorem Proving

    Author : Hans Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; distributed algorithms; fault-tolerance; theorem proving; verification; distributed programming; Erlang; model checking; testing;

    Abstract : Software infiltrates every aspect of modern society. Production, transportation, entertainment, and almost every other sphere that influences modern living are either directly or indirectly dependent on software systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aqueous Processing of WC-Co Powders Aqueous processing of WC-Co powders

    Author : Karin Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : Hard metal; cemented carbide; WC-Co; tungsten oxide; tungsten carbide; oxidation; cobalt; dissolution; surface complexation; XPS; AFM; colloidal probe; force curve; Hamaker constant; Cauchy; WO3; CoOOH; CoO; Co3O4; ESCA; zeta-potential; surface poten;

    Abstract : The object of this work is toobtain a fundamental understanding of the principal issuesconcerning the handling of WC-Co powders, in an aqueousmedium.The oxidation and dissolution oftungsten carbide powder dispersed in water was investigatedusing X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and leachingstudies. 4. 4. Properties of Protein and Polymer Systems

    Author : Fredrik Carlsson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; lysozyme; mica; surface; dimerization; precipitation; aggregate; cluster; complex; polyelectrolyte; protein; polymer;

    Abstract : Interactions of proteins with other proteins, with polymers and with surfaces are of great practical importance within for instance protein purification, drug delivery, and food technology. The aim of this work is to increase the understanding of protein-protein, protein-polyelectrolyte, and protein-surface interactions, particularly concerning the role of electrostatic interactions in these systems. 5. 5. Scattering Studies of Macromolecules in Solution

    Author : David Löf; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bacteriophage lambda; Dynamic Light Scattering; Time-Resolved; Mixed Micelles; Nonionic Surfactant; Triblock Copolymer; Calorimetry; SLS; Rheology; DLS; SAXS;

    Abstract : The sphere-to-rod transition of nonionic micelles of the PEO-PPO-PEO triblock copolymer P123 and the surfactant C12EO6 was studied using dynamic and static light scattering, small angel X-ray scattering, rheology and calorimetry. The transition temperature was dependent of the C12EO6/P123 molar ratio, which means that a larger content of C12EO6 yields a higher transition temperature. READ MORE
