  1. 1. Healing Architecture: Evidence, Intuition, Dialogue

    Author : Stefan Lundin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; EBD; intuition; critical approach; best practice; design dialogue; tacit knowledge; healing architecture; Design research in architecture; evidence-based design;

    Abstract : In today’s healthcare architecture there is a striving to make better use of evidence to achieve environments that can contribute to patients’ healing, recovery, and well-being. These ideas are in part a legacy of the theory and practice of evidence-based medicine and the success it has enjoyed in its field. READ MORE

  2. 2. Designing Healing. A Conceptual Model for Promoting a Healing Health Care Environment in Tanzania

    Author : Moses Mkony; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; healthcare facilities; system analysis approach; matrix design; Healing environment; vernacular architecture; cultural system.; sociality;

    Abstract : Better health services are a basic human right of approximately 40 million people in Tanzania, calling for an improved architecture of Health Care Facilities (HCFs) so as to provide a healing health care environment that supports wellness as well as diagnosis and treatment. Healing design concepts of medical and architectural researchers are in line with life styles, contemporary architectural styles and social cultural systems in the western world, while in Tanzania, although cultural heritage is emphasized as the backbone of sustainable development, very little effort has been made to incorporate cultural elements and vernacular architecture into contemporary HCF designs. Abstract : With the increased usage of electronics, embedded computer systems, software and networks in modern vehicles, the complexity is also increasing in terms of the development process, functionalities as well as their implementation. On one hand there is a need for efficient and systematic development, and on the other hand the systems are required to have enhanced post-deployment time configuration management support. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cognitive and Self-Adaptive SoCs with Self-Healing Run-Time-Reconfigurable RecoBlocks

    Author : Byron Navas; Ingo Sander; Johnny Öberg; Michael Hübner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In contrast to classical Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), partial and run-time reconfigurable (RTR) FPGAs can selectively reconfigure partitions of its hardware almost immediately while it is still powered and operative. In this way, RTR FPGAs combine the flexibility of software with the high efficiency of hardware. READ MORE
