    Abstract : Chronic pain affects 20 % of the global population, causes suffering, is difficult to treat, and constitutes a large economic burden for society. So far, the characterization of molecular mechanisms of chronic pain-like behaviors in animal models has not translated into effective treatments. READ MORE

    Abstract : Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) exist as more than 100 distinct types. Variants of HPVs appear to be common findings while HPV subtypes have been considered rare. New information about subtypes has recently been reported by us. READ MORE

  4. 4. Endotoxin-induced inflammation in healthy human airways

    Author : Margaretha E. Smith; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LPS; neutrophils; bronchoalveolar lavage; human airways; innate immunity;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate the innate immune response in healthy human airways in vivo after simulation of a Gram-negative infection. Intrabronchial exposure to the TLR4 agonist endotoxin was used as a model for the innate mechanisms in the immune response that are caused by cigarette smoke and by natural infection with Gram-negative bacteria.
