  1. 1. Advances in Ventilation Heat Recovery : An assessment of peak loads shaving using renewables

    Author : Behrouz Nourozi; Sasan Sadrizadeh; Adnan Ploskic; Carey Simonson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Peak heat load shaving; renewable energy; ventilation heat recovery; frosting in heat exchangers; Heat transfer; förnybar energi; ventilation värmeåtervinning; frosting i värmeväxlare; värmeöverföring; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of total global energy usage.In residential buildings located in cold climate countries, 30-60% of this energy isused for space heating, 20–30% is lost by discarded residential wastewater, and therest is devoted to ventilation heat loss. 2. 2. Increasing the value of household appliances by adding a heat pump system

    Author : Peder Bengtsson; Jonas Berghel; Tomas Persson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Heat pump; Appliances; ASKO; Energy system; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Historically, domestic tasks such as preparing food and washing and drying clothes and dishes were done by hand. In a modern home many of these chores are taken care of by machines such as washing machines, dishwashers and tumble dryers. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Particle Image Velocimetry Study of Bubbly Gas-Liquid Flow

    Author : Xiaoyun Tu; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulent dispersion; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; turbulence; Rushton turbine; stirred tank; slip velocity; bubbly gas liquid two-phase flow; coherent structure; CCD camera; PIV; POD;

    Abstract : The aim of this work is to build a framework that can be used for characterizing the bubbly gas liquid turbulent flow in the stirred bioreactor tank. To this end we have developed and modified techniques with which to measure the velocity of both dispersed gas and carrier liquid phases by the optical measurement technique, a 2-CCD camera Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system; and to characterize the turbulence by the wavelets tool, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD). 4. 4. Studies of the flow pattern in short term hot water storages

    Author : Pascal Veber; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis relates to the study of thermally stratified hot water storages used in district heating systems and is an extension of the doctoral theses of Jan Dahl and Roger Hermansson. The thermal performance of a stratified water storage is reduced by different phenomena such as heat transfer to the surroundings and mixing between hot and cold water during the charging of the tank.
