  1. 1. Response Time as Self-Schema Indicator : Implications for Personality Assessment

    Author : Lars-Erik Hedlund; Bo Ekehammar; Nazar Akrami; Martin Bäckström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Self-schema; response time; inverted-U effect; heritability; personality assessment; curvilinearity; personality trait; five factor model; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Abstract : The focal objective of this thesis was to examine the potential advantage of introducing the self-schema concept, indexed by response time, into personality assessment. The basic rationale for the use of response time is that a self-schema facilitates response time for self-referent information as it permits people to make assessments easier and automatic. 2. 2. Methodological considerations in epidemiological studies in perinatal medicine

    Author : Dominika Modzelewska; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gestational duration; preterm delivery; familial aggregation; heritability; variability; birthweight; small for gestational age; neonatal outcomes;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on two projects, each consisting of two papers. In these two projects we investigated factors affecting the variability in gestational duration, and associations between maternal diet and neonatal outcomes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Genetic and Environmental Influences on Bone and Fractures

    Author : Helene Wagner; Karl Michaëlsson; Håkan Melhus; Nancy Pedersen; Kristina Åkesson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heritability; twin study; osteoporotic fractures; vertebral fractures; balance; bone mineral density; bone area; bone markers; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Abstract : Sweden and Norway have the worldwide highest incidence of osteoporotic fractures. As these fractures constitute a tremendous and growing problem, primary prevention is of great importance. The principal causes of an osteoporotic fracture are a fall and a fragile skeleton. READ MORE

  4. 4. Disruption of moth mating behaviour by olfactory and auditory cues

    Author : Glenn Svensson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Djurekologi; ultrasound; predation risk; selection; heritability; flight tunnel; harmonic radar; pest control; mating disruption; pheromone communication; Pyralidae; Lepidoptera; Noctuidae; Animal ecology;

    Abstract : The impact of olfactory and auditory cues on the mating behaviour in two species of moths, Agrotis segetum (Noctuidae) and Plodia interpunctella (Pyralidae), was investigated to evaluate their potential use in integrated pest management. The flight behaviour of male A. READ MORE

  5. 5. Non-coagulating milk from Swedish Red Dairy Cattle : Influence of milk composition, physical properties and genetic parameters

    Author : Kajsa Nilsson; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Non-coagulating milk; genetic parameter; milk composistion; heritability; protein profile; hydrolysation;

    Abstract : Non-coagulating (NC) milk is unwanted in cheese production, as it lowers cheese yield and prolongs processing time. Less yield will lead to economic losses at the dairies. Even if NC milk has been found in several breeds, studies suggest that Swedish Red Dairy cattle (RDC) has a higher frequency of NC milk than most other breeds. READ MORE
