1. Mixers and Multifunctional MMICs for Millimeter-Wave Applications
Abstract : This thesis treats the design and characterization of different mixer and multifunctional monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) in GaAs pHEMT and mHEMT technologies. The MMICs operate at the V (50 – 75 GHz) and G (140 – 220 GHz) bands and several of them demonstrate state-of-the-art performance, level of integration, novel topologies, and/or novel functionality. 2. Modelling, Analysis and Design of RF Mixed-Signal Mixer for Wireless Communications
Abstract : The explosive growth of the market for wirelesscommunications is driving low cost, highly integrated designsand complex RF/analog mixed-signal integrated circuit (RF AMSIC) products. RF transceiver application is one of the mostimportant wireless applications. READ MORE

3. Nanowire Transistors and RF Circuits for Low-Power Applications
Abstract : The background of this thesis is related to the steadily increasing demand of higher bandwidth and lower power consumption for transmitting data. The work aims at demonstrating how new types of structures, at the nanoscale, combined with what is referred to as exotic materials, can help benefit in electronics by lowering the consumed power, possibly by an order of magnitude, compared to the industry standard, silicon (Si), used today. 4. Millimeter-wave Transceiver ICs for Ultrahigh Data Rate Communications Using Advanced III-V and Silicon Technologies
Abstract : Today’s main driving parameter for radio transceiver research is the ability to provide high capacity while maintaining low cost, small form factor, and low power consumption. Direct conversion architectures (due to the feasibility of monolithic integration) at millimeter-wave (due to wideband availability) have attracted large interest in recent years because of their potential to meet these demands. 5. Ultra-Wideband Low-Noise Amplifier andSix-Port Transceiver for High Speed DataTransmission
Abstract : Today’s data rates in wired networks can reach 100 Gbit/s using optical fiber while data rates in wireless networks are much lower - tens of Mbit/s for 3G mobile communication and 480 Mbit/s for ultra-wideband (UWB) short range wireless communications. This difference in data rates can mainly be explained by the limited allowed frequency spectrum, the nature of the radio signal and the high requirements imposed on all hardware designed for high speed and wideband wireless communications.
