  1. 1. On the processing of starch consolidated high speed steel - Microstructure and tribological properties

    Author : Peter Harlin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tribological properties; green body; microstructure; porosity; high speed steel; Starch consolidation; super solidus liquid phase sintering; mechanical properties;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on processing of high speed steel (HSS) powder into components using starch consolidation (SC) and supersolidus liquid phase sintering (SLPS). The work consists of four parts. First, the possibilities and constrains of the SC process are investigated and the role of starch in the green body fabrication clarified. READ MORE

  3. 3. Improved high velocity cold copaction processing : polymer powder to high performance parts

    Author : Bruska Azhdar; Sture Persson; Cornell Nicolescu; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high-velocity compaction; powder polymers; polyamide-11; relaxation assist; compactibility; relative green density; morphology; pull-out; springback; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : A uniaxial High-Velocity Compaction (HVC) process for polymer powder using a cylindrical, hardened steel die and a new technique with relaxation assist was tested with a focus on the compactibility characteristics and surface morphology of the compacted materials using various heights of relaxation assist device with different compacting profiles. Relaxation assist device was presented as a new technique to reduce springback, pull-out phenomenon and to improve the compaction process. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simplified dynamic analysis of railway bridges under high-speed trains

    Author : Christoffer Johansson; Costin Pacoste; Raid Karoumi; Jose M Goicolea; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dynamic; Railway bridge; High-speed train; Moving load; Multi-span beam; Probabilistic;

    Abstract : The world-wide development of new high-speed rail lines has led to more stringent design requirements for railway bridges. This is mainly due to the fact that a train at high speeds can cause resonance in the bridge superstructure. READ MORE
