  1. 1. The neuropsychology of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus

    Author : Per Hellström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; Neuropsychology; Prospective study; Shunt treatment; Treatment outcome; iNPH scale;

    Abstract : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is characterised by an active distension of the cerebral ventricles due to inadequate absorption of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) into the systemic circulation. The intracranial pressure is within normal limits, the passages between the ventricles and subarachnoid spaces are open, and there is an absence of identifiable antecedents known to reduce CSF absorption. 2. 2. Cerebral CT - and MRI perfusion: Techniques and clinical application in iNPH

    Author : Doerthe Ziegelitz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebral perfusion; idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; computed tomography perfusion; dynamic suceptibility contrast MRI;

    Abstract : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a disorder of the elderly, defined by slowly progressive impairment of gait and balance, cognitive decline, and incontinence. Disturbance of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics results in ventriculomegaly without intracranial pressure increase. READ MORE

  3. 3. A population-based study on neuropsychological and morphological signs of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus

    Author : Otto Lilja-Lund; Lars Nyberg; Martin Maripuu; Katarina Laurell; Magnus Tisell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; cognition; dual-task; ageing; temporal horns; morphology; memory; executive function; Neurology; neurologi;

    Abstract : BACKGROUND: Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is typically manifested in people over 65 years. The condition of gait disturbances, incontinence, and cognitive dysfunction can be reversed in up to 80% of the cases by ventricular shunting. READ MORE

  4. 4. Imaging in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus : The value of structured radiological evaluation

    Author : Karin Kockum; Katarina Laurell; Elna-Marie Larsson; Katrine Riklund; Johan Wasselius; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; normal pressure hydrocephalus; gait disorder; computed tomography; magnetic resonance imaging; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Background: Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a neurological condition where the symptoms include disturbed gait, balance, cognition and continence. The diagnostic guidelines are based on typical symptoms combined with imaging showing enlarged ventricles. READ MORE

  5. 5. Gait Characteristics, Physical Activity and Subjective Outcome after Shunt Surgery in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

    Author : Johanna Rydja; Fredrik Lundin; Petra Pohl; Mats Tullberg; Erika Franzén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Normal pressure hydrocephalus; Gait; Physical activity; Subjective outcome; Shunt surgery;

    Abstract : Background  Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a common but under-diagnosed disease among the elderly. The condition is characterised by gait disturbance, postural instability, cognitive decline and incontinence, caused by accumulated cerebrospinal fluid within the central nerve system. READ MORE
