  1. 1. Shb and Its Homologues: Signaling in T Lymphocytes and Fibroblasts

    Author : Cecilia Lindholm; Hamid Band; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Shb; T cell receptor; IL-2 receptor; PDGF receptor; cell signaling; adapter proteins; LAT; Vav; PLC-g1; SLP-76; JAK1; JAK3; Jurkat cells; T cells; NK cells; Apoptosis.; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Abstract : Stimulation of the T cell receptor (TCR) induces tyrosine phosphorylation of numerous intracellular proteins, leading to activation of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene in T lymphocytes. Shb is a ubiquitously expressed adapter protein, with the ability to associate with the T cell receptor and several signaling proteins in T cells, including: the TCR ζ-chain, LAT, PLC-γ1, Vav, SLP-76 and Gads. 2. 2. The ups and downs of T cells The role of costimulatory molecules in the modulation of T cell responses

    Author : Christina Olsson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; transplantation; serology; CD28; costimulation; CD152; IL-2; NF-kB; AP-1; superantigen; Immunology; T cell; serologi;

    Abstract : T cell activation requires the combination of antigen in the context of MHC and costimulatory molecules to induce a functional immune response. For our studies, we primarily utilized superantigens (SAg) that bind MHC class II molecules as first signal. READ MORE

  3. 3. T cell Tolerance - Cellular and molecular features of immune regulation

    Author : Susanna Grundström; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; JAK STAT.; NFkB; suppression; IL-2; superantigen; T cells; tolerance;

    Abstract : The immune system has evolved regulatory mechanisms in order to balance the effects of deleterious immune responses. Such immunological tolerance may be specifically acquired by lymphocytes, although different cells of the immune system participate in the induction and maintenance of tolerance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Specific and nonspecific immune mechanisms in human gut : a comparative study of normal and ulcerative colitis intestine

    Author : Moorix Mo-Wai Yeung; Sten Hammarström; Marie-Louise Hammarström; Marita Troye-Blomberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human intestine; ulcerative colitis; lymphoid aggregates; intraepithelial lymphocytes; lamina propria lymphocytes; γδT-cells; cytokines; IL-2; carcinoembryonic antigen; biliary glycoprotein; epithelial cells; glycocalyx;

    Abstract : The intestine, with its large mucosal surface area, digests and absorbs food nutrients and maintains a beneficial microbial flora in the colon. Local protective immune responses against intestinal pathogens ensure the survival of the individual. These immune reactions are both specific and non-specific in nature. READ MORE

  5. 5. LOAd703 and beyond : Advancing immunostimulatory gene therapy for cancer

    Author : Jessica Wenthe; Angelica S. Loskog; Marco Donia; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; Immunotherapy; Gene therapy; Oncolytic virus; Adenovirus; CAR T cells; Immune checkpoint inhibition; CD40L; 4-1BBL; IL-2;

    Abstract : In the last decade, immunotherapy has come into the limelight of cancer treatments. Immunotherapy aims to stimulate the body’s own immune system to create or reinvigorate anti-tumor immune responses. READ MORE
