1. Concrete Structures Subjected to Blast and Fragment Impacts - Numerical Simulations of Reinforced and Fibre-reinforced Concrete
Abstract : Concrete is widely used in design of protective structures due to its good energy-absorbing characteristics under high pressures and, when properly reinforced, ductile behaviour. Nevertheless, the response of concrete structures subjected to severe dynamic loading differs from their static behaviour, on a structural level but also on a material level. READ MORE

2. Lamb wave evaluation of concrete plates
Abstract : This thesis is about the application of Lamb waves for non-destructive evaluation of plate-like concrete structures under one-sided access test condition using a portable equipment consisting of an accelerometer and impact hammer. With this type of equipment and based on array signal processing, the impact-echo (IE) method can be extended with measurements of surface waves; this extension allows an evaluation with Lamb waves. 3. Reducing Radon Gas Emissions in Concrete
Abstract : Several compulsory regulations and recommendations regarding ionising radiation for building products have been introduced in recent years. Furthermore, industry-affiliated aggregate and concrete companies strive to implement environmental goals that should be fulfilled regarding building materials. READ MORE

4. Moisture Conditions and Frost Resistance of Concrete in Hydraulic Structures
Abstract : Owing to the winter conditions in Sweden, the effects of frost action may have a considerable impact on the deterioration of concrete. Both superficial and internal damage, which are suspected to have been caused by frost action, have been found in concrete in hydraulic structures. READ MORE

5. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads
Abstract : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. READ MORE
