  1. 1. Reconfigurable Impedance Matching Networks for Radio Receivers

    Author : Peter Sjöblom; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical engineering; Telekommunikationsteknik; Telecommunication engineering; Elektronik; Electronics; reconfigurable matching; switched capacitor; antenna tuning unit; impedance tuning unit; High frequency technology; Elektroteknik; microwaves; Högfrekvensteknik; mikrovågor;

    Abstract : Mobile phones become smaller but include more advanced functions for every new generation. This paradox is possible since reduced transistor size and increased integration of digital building blocks free space for new functions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Detecting Inclusions in a Silicone Rubber Phantom Using Standing Lamb Waves and Multiple Frequency Footprints

    Author : Ulf G Jonsson; Britt Andersson; Olof A Lindahl; Jacques Ohayon; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Piezoelectric; Silicone rubber; Impedance; Resonance; Lamb waves; Phantom; Electronics; elektronik;

    Abstract : The thesis deals with one major question: is it possible, using one piezoelectric sensor/vibrator, to detect a hard inclusion in a silicone rubber phantom? The question was approached with an open mind and the task was subdivided into three clearly identifiable parts: characterization of the piezoelectric sensor/vibrator (paper I), creating a model of the visco-elastic properties of a tissue-like material (phantom) in contact with the sensor/vibrator (paper II), and to detect the presence of a hard inclusion in the phantom (paper III). All vibrations of the sensor/vibrator and phantom was modeled using a finite element method (FEM). READ MORE

  3. 3. Mathematical Models for Investigation of Performance, Safety, and Aging in Lithium-Ion Batteries

    Author : Tommy Georgios Zavalis; Göran Lindbergh; Mårten Behm; Yann Bultel; KTH; []

    Abstract : Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries have both the power and energy capabilities to be utilized in hybrid electric vehicles and other power demanding applications. However, there are obstacles primarily related to reliability in safety and lifetime. Additionally, there is still room for improvement in the battery performance. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of the environment on quantum systems: decoherence, bound states and high impedance in superconducting circuits

    Author : Marco Scigliuzzo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Superconducting circuits in the quantum regime represent a viable platform for microwave quantum optics, quantum simulations and quantum computing. In the last two decades, a large effort brought this architecture from an academic curiosity to concrete technology. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tunable superconducting transmissionline resonator for qubit coupling

    Author : Martin Sandberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fast tuning; superconductivity; transmission line; SCB; Josephson inductance.; Frequency tunable resonator; SQUID; CPW; aluminium;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis design, fabrication, and measurements of tunable superconducting microwave transmission line resonators are described. The resonators are of quarter wavelength type were the tuning is achieved by changing one of the boundary conditions of the resonator through a tunable impedance. READ MORE
