  1. 1. Molecular Recognition Studies Based on Imprinting Technology

    Author : Cong Yu; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; imprinting; molecular recognition; polymer; chiral separation; acrylamide; chromatography; functional monomer; cross-linking; hydrogen bonding; hydrophobic interactions; aqueous media; solvent; antibody; mimics; receptor; artificial enzyme; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis, I have focused on five main research areas: 1). A new type of imprinted polymer has been developed, namely the amide MIP. The amide functional monomers showed better hydrogen bonding capabilities in polar organic solvents and the resulting polymers exhibited good enantiomeric recognition properties in organic media. 2. 2. Epigenetic Control of Mammalian Development : Studies on an imprinting control region

    Author : Liang Liu; Pärt Peterson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Epigenetic; Genomic imprinting; DNA methylation; Igf2; H19; Insulator; CTCF; Imprinting control region; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; zoologisk utvecklingsbiologi; Animal Development;

    Abstract : A subset of autosomal genes is preferentially or exclusively expressed from one of the parental alleles. This phenomenon, termed genomic imprinting, is highlighted by the neighboring Igf2 and H19 genes, which are monoallelically expressed on opposite parental chromosomes. These features are governed by a 2. READ MORE

  3. 3. On Sexual Imprinting in Humans

    Author : Hanna Aronsson; Johan Lind; Magnus Enquist; Jerry Hogan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sexual Imprinting; Paraphilia; Fetishism; Sexual Preferences; Partner Preferences; Sexual Development; Ethology and behavioural ecology; Etologi och beteendeekologi; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; etologi; Ethology;

    Abstract : In this thesis I investigate whether human sexual preferences develop through sexual imprinting. Sexual imprinting is the acquisition of sexual preferences through non-rewarded experiences with parents and siblings during an early sensitive period and it is known to exist in many other animals. 4. 4. Epigenetic Regulation of Genomic Imprinting and Higher Order Chromatin Conformation

    Author : Gholamreza Tavoosidana; Rolf Ohlsson; Job Dekker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Epigenetic; Imprinting; Chromatin; CTCF; H19 ICR; 4C; Utvecklingsbiologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : The genetic information encoded by the DNA sequence, can be expressed in different ways. Genomic imprinting is an epigenetic phenomenon that results in monoallelic expression of imprinted genes in a parent of origin-dependent manner. Imprinted genes are frequently found in clusters and can share common regulatory elements. READ MORE

  5. 5. Epigenetic Regulation and Reprogramming of the H19 Imprinting Control Region

    Author : Piero Mariano; Rolf Ohlsson; Karl Ekwall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Imprinting; chromatin; H19; Igf2; CTCF; Insulator; methylation; Boris; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Abstract : The development of a new individual from the fertilized oocyte can ultimately be seen as the consequence of the establishment and maintenance of specific patterns of gene expression. Although regulation of gene activity occurs at different levels, cellular specialization and differentiation are the results of developmental cues that essentially take place at the transcriptional level.
