11. Advances in analytical methodologies for studies of the platinum metallome in malignant cells exposed to cisplatin
Abstract : The scientific progress about the important chemotherapeutic drug substance cisplatin (CDDP) and its function has often been rendered by data difficult to interpret, and still many questions about its mode of action remains to be clarified by the scientific community. However, studies of CDDP possess a high complexity due to; i) low intracellular concentration, ii) many potential biomolecule targets, iii) poor or unknown stability of the intact drug and its biomolecule adducts and iv) complex and varying sample matrices. 12. Transition metal dissolution from Li-ion battery cathodes
Abstract : Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have become reliable electrochemical energy storage systems due to their relative high energy and power density, in comparison to alternative battery chemistries. The energy density of current LIBs is limited by the average operating voltage and capacity of oxide-based cathode materials containing a variety of transition metals (TM). READ MORE

13. Coupled Liquid Separation and Spectrometric Detection of Organic Compounds Containing Hetero-atoms
Abstract : This thesis exemplifies the strength in the combination of inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometry and electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry ESI-MS/MS as detection techniques for liquid chromatography (LC) in the search for and investigation of compounds that bind or can bind hetero-atoms. Furthermore, some aspects involved in the coupling of LC and ICP spectrometry and quantification without identical standards have been studied. READ MORE

14. On the reliability of methods for the speciation of mercury based on chromatographic separation coupled to atomic spectrometric detection
Abstract : This thesis deals with the reliability of methods for the speciation of mercury in environmental and biological samples. Problems with speciation methods that couple chromatography to atomic spectrometric detection and how to overcome the problems are discussed. READ MORE

15. Fabrication and Charaterisation of Photonic Integrated Circuits
Abstract : The past few decades have seen an explosive increase ininformation transfer, fuelled by the enormous growth of theInternet, telecommunication applications, and mass mediasystems in general. Because of the very high bandwidthpotential promised by optical fibre communication technology, the area of all-optical networking has received a great amountof attention. READ MORE
