  1. 1. Elastic and Inelastic Electron Tunneling in Molecular Devices

    Author : Mathias Kula; Yi Luo; Alessandro Troisi; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular electronics; inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy; IETS; Green s function; scattering; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : A theoretical framework for calculating electron transport through molecular junctions is presented. It is based on scattering theory using a Green's function formalism. The model can take both elastic and inelastic scattering into account and treats chemical and physical bonds on equal footing. READ MORE

  2. 2. First principles simulations of electron transport at the molecule-solid interface

    Author : Hao Ren; Yi Luo; Nicolás Lorente; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; first principles; electron transport; solid surface; inelastic electron tunneling; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis I concentrate on the description of electron transport properties of microscopic objects, including molecular junctions and nano junctions, in particular, inelastic electron tunneling in surface-adsorbate systems are examined with more contemplations. Boosted by the rapid advance in experimental techniques at the microscopic scale, various electric experiments and measurements sprung up in the last decade. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electron Transport and Optical Properties in Mesoscopic Systems

    Author : Anna Grincwajg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The main subject of this Thesis is optical properties of quantum point contact systems and their influence on the electron transport. A quantum point contact is a narrow constriction in a two-dimensional electron gas, where the width of the constriction can be controlled by means of a gate voltage. READ MORE

  4. 4. A generalized quantum chemical approach for nano- and bio-electronics

    Author : Jun Jiang; Yi Luo; Sven Stafström; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : A generalized quantum chemical approach for electron transport in molecular devices is developed. It allows to treat the devices where the metal electrodes and the molecule are either chemically or physically bonded on equal footing. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Quantum Chemical View of Molecular and Nano-Electronics

    Author : Jun Jiang; Yi Luo; Jim Greer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a generalized quantum chemical approach for electron transport in molecular electronic devices based on Green's function scattering theory. It allows to describe both elastic and inelastic electron transport processes at first principles levels of theory, and to treat devices with metal electrodes either chemically or physically bonded to the molecules on equal footing.
