1. A Study of the Initial Mould Filling during Up-hill Ingot Casting
Abstract : The fluid flow in the mould during up-hill teeming is of great importance for the quality of the cast ingot and thereby the quality of the final steel products. At the early stage of the filling of an up-hill teeming mould, liquid steel flows with a high velocity from the runner into the mould. READ MORE

2. Formation of non-metallic inclusions and the possibility of their removal during ingot casting
Abstract : The present study was carried out to investigate the formation and evolution of non-metallic inclusions during ingot casting. Emphasize have been on understanding the types of inclusions formed and developed through the casting process and on the development of already existing inclusions carried over from the ladle during casting. 3. Some aspects of convection as well as graphite and carbide formations during casting
Abstract : It is an established fact that segregation during casting affects the physical properties of carbon-based ferro alloys; this motivates the study of the segregation behaviour of carbon and carbide-forming solute elements. In this context, this thesis investigates two different situations: the effects of cooling rate and turbulence on the precipitation behaviour of the graphite nodules in nodular cast iron; the nature of carbide precipitation in a bearing steel grade and the effects of subsequent soaking on these carbides. 4. A Study of Slag/Metal Equilibrium and Inclusion Characteristics during Ladle Treatment and after Ingot Casting
Abstract : Today, there is a high demand on clean steel for high performance materialproperties. Thus, steel producers try to deliver a steel product with the highestquality and cleanliness to the market. The number of parameters that affect thesteel cleanliness may vary depending on the required material properties of thefinal product. READ MORE

5. Hardening Distortions of Serial Produced Gears
Abstract : Hardening distortions are unwanted changes in shape and dimension that arise during hardening of steel components. Uncontrolled distortions induce random errors to the manufacturing process, and have a strong negative impact on manufacturing costs. READ MORE
