1. Flow structures in solid-liquid suspensions in mixing and confined jets
Abstract : This thesis investigates the influence of solid particles on different liquid flow systems.Large-scale periodic fluctuations such as macro instability (MI) phenomena in a mixingvessel and jet flows in a confined jet were experimentally analyzed by means of LDV. Theinfluences of different sized (0.5mm-2mm) glass particles (0%vol - 6. READ MORE

2. Integral and local AC-susceptibility : instrumentation and applications
Abstract : This thesis presents my mostly unpublished experimental work related to two major contributions with the design of: A high precision and versatile bulk average(or integral) AC-susceptometer and its application to investigations of exchange anisotropy in Co multilayers. A novel Local Susceptibility measurement technique exploiting the narrow gap in inductive ring-heads in magnetic recording technology. READ MORE

3. Inflow generation for scale-resolving simulations of turbulent boundary layers
Abstract : Generating inflow fields for scale-resolving simulations of turbulent flow is crucial for a wide range of applications and is an active area of research. In this thesis, a method for inflow generation employing a precursor turbulent channel flow simulation is proposed. READ MORE

4. Transitional boundary layers caused by free-stream turbulence
Abstract : The present measurement campaign on the free-stream turbulence (FST) induced boundary layer transition scenario has provided a unique set of experimental data, with potential to enhance the understanding of the eect of the free-stream turbulence characteristic length scales on the transition location and not only the turbulence intensity, which has been the focus in most previous studies. Recent investigations where the turbulence intensity has been kept essentially constant, while the integral length scale has been changed, show that the transition location is advanced for increasing length scale. 5. An experimental study on streamwise streaks in transitional boundary layers
Abstract : The present experimental study focuses on two topics, a passive transition-delay method for different types of wave disturbances and the effect of free-stream turbulence characteristics on boundary layer transition over a at plate. In the investigations, hot-wire anemometry was employed and the experiments were performed in a well-controlled wind tunnel facility. READ MORE
