  2. 2. Novel powertrain topologies for energy-efficient battery electric vehicles

    Author : Yu Xu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; System simulation; Battery electric vehicle; Electric powertrain; Powertrain topologies; Vehicle performance; Energy efficiency;

    Abstract : The global transition towards sustainable transportation has underscored the importance of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), with a growing need for enhancement in powertrain energy efficiency to mitigate range anxiety and promote widespread adoption. In response to this need, there have been significant contributions from advancements on powertrain components, such as electric motors and inverters, towards increased energy efficiency. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nonlinear Model-based Control of Automotive Powertrains

    Author : Jonas Fredriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stability; diesel engine control; nonlinear control; gearshifting; air-to-fuel ratio control; drive- line oscillations; backstepping; powertrain modeling; powertrain control;

    Abstract : In recent years the focus of powertrain control has shifted perspective from control of the individual powertrain components to control of the complete powertrain, so-called integrated powertrain control. The idea presented in this thesis is to view the powertrain as one single control object and to used the engine as a torque actuator to the rest of the driveline. READ MORE

  4. 4. Battery Integrated Modular Multilevel Converter Topologies for Automotive Applications

    Author : Arvind Balachandran; Lars Eriksson; Tomas Uno Jonsson; Torbjörn Thiringer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Electric vehicles are rapidly developing in response to the need for increasing sustainable energy sources. The range and lifetime of an electric vehicle are limited by the battery pack. A pack comprises modules with several parallel and/or series-connected cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Engine Encapsulation for Increased Fuel Efficiency of Road Vehicles

    Author : Blago Minovski; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coupled simulations; powertain cooling systems; warm-up; 1D simulations; thermal engine encapsulation; cool-down; fuel consumption; numerical analysis; 3D CFD simulations;

    Abstract : Thermal engine encapsulation is an increasingly popular design choice, which insulates the engine from the external environment and retains heat in the engine after it is turned off. This decelerates motor cool-down and increases the probability for high initial temperature at a subsequent engine start, resulting in shorter warm-up and reduced friction between engine parts.
