  1. 1. New Concepts in Administration of Drugs in Tablet Form : Formulation and Evaluation of a Sublingual Tablet for Rapid Absorption, and Presentation of an Individualised Dose Administration System

    Author : Susanne Bredenberg; Christer Nyström; Carla Caramella; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; Interactive mixture; Dose homogeneity; Disintegration; Bioadhesion; Oromucosal delivery; Sublingual tablet; Rapid absorption; Individual dosage; Drug dispensing device; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents two new concepts in oral drug administration and the results of evaluation of some relevant formulation factors.Investigation into improving the homogeneity of mixtures for tableting indicated that it may be possible to obtain interactive dry mixtures of micronised drugs containing drug proportions as low as 0.015% w/w. 2. 2. Studies on a Novel Powder Formulation for Nasal Drug Delivery

    Author : Nelly Fransén; Erik Björk; Katarina Edsman; Lars Hovgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nasal drug delivery; nasal powder spray; interactive mixture; mucoadhesion; sodium starch glycolate; superdisintegrant; bioavailability; clinical trial; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Abstract : Nasal administration has potential for the treatment of indications requiring a fast onset of effect or for drugs with low oral bioavailability. Liquid nasal sprays are relatively common, but can be associated with suboptimal absorption from the nasal cavity; this thesis shows that nasal absorption can be significantly enhanced with a dry powder formulation. 3. 3. A pressure coupled Representative Interactive Linear Eddy Model (RILEM) for heavy-duty truck engine combustion simulations

    Author : Nidal Doubiani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Representative interactive linear eddy model; multiple LEM lines; turbulent chemistry interaction; pressure coupling; pollutants formation.;

    Abstract : Internal combustion engines (ICE) are frequently debated due to their environmental consequences. Although the switch to electromobility is currently happening for light and medium-duty vessels, the transition for ships and heavy-duty trucks is more complex. The primary problem in the shift is the incapability of matching the range of ICE. READ MORE

  4. 4. Drying of Multicomponent Liquid Films

    Author : Fabio Luna; KTH; []
    Keywords : ternary mixture; falling film; diffusion equation; gas-phase control; liquid-phase control; selectivity; stability analysis; polymeric solution; evaporation; azeotrope; batch drying; continuous drying;

    Abstract : The convective drying of thin layers of multicomponentliquid mixtures into an inert gas, and the influence ofdifferent process controlling mechanisms on drying selectivityis studied. Drying experiments under gas-phase-controlledconditions are performed by low intensity evaporation, fromfree liquid surfaces, of ternary mixtures without non-volatilesolutes. READ MORE

  5. 5. An Analytical Solution Applied to Heat and Mass Transfer in a Vibrated Fluidised Bed Dryer

    Author : Apolinar Picado; Joaquín Martínez; Göran Lindbergh; Ivars Neretnieks; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Analytical solution; Heat and mass transfer; Temperature and moisture distribution; Drying modelling; Multicomponent drying; Drying selectivity; Volatile retention; Ternary mixture; Drying of particulate materials; Vibrated fluidised bed dryer; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : A mathematical model for the drying of particulate solids in a continuous vibrated fluidised bed dryer was developed and applied to the drying of grain wetted with a single liquid and porous particles containing multicomponent liquid mixtures. Simple equipment and material models were applied to describe the process. READ MORE
