  3. 3. Mini-Jet Production in Proton-Antiproton Interactions and Particle Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions

    Author : Haiqiao Wang; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proton antiproton interaction; Quark-gluon plasma; dynamical fluctuation; intermittency; limiting fragmentation; intranuclear cascading; target fragmentation; heavy-ion collision; image processing; mini-jet; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Wang;

    Abstract : The thesis is based on the data analysis and detector development of the EMU01/CERN, E863/BNL and UA1/CERN experiments. Particle fluctuations are studied with the scaled factorial moments in the fragmentation region of oxygen-induced emulsion interactions from 3.7 to 200 A GeV. READ MORE

  4. 4. Statistical and Dynamical Aspects of Intermediate Energy Nuclear Collisions

    Author : Roberta Ghetti; Fysiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; excitation function.; subthreshold pions; pion production; neutron cross-talk; correlation function; interferometry; intermittency; phase transition; thermal scaling; reducibility; multifragmentation; Heavy ion collisions; intermediate energy; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Ghetti;

    Abstract : Studies of intermediate energy heavy ion reactions have revealed the existence of a number of reducibility and thermal scaling properties in nuclear multifragmentation. In particular, the probability of emitting n-fragments is reducible to the probability of emitting a single fragment through the binomial distribution. READ MORE

  5. 5. The impact of wind power variability on the least-cost dispatch of units in the electricity generation system

    Author : Lisa Göransson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wind power; intermittency; wind-thermal system; variability; cycling costs; electricity generation system; dispatch modeling; variation management;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the dynamics of electricity generation systems that involve high levels of wind power. Methods to account for wind power variability in electricity-dispatch models are explored, and the impact of wind power variability on the optimal output of the generation units, so as to meet the system load with the lowest possible cost (economic dispatch), is analyzed for several systems, for both regional and European cases.
