  1. 1. Tunneling through Nanostructures - Interactions, Interference and Broadening

    Author : Jonas Pedersen; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum transport; Quantum dots; Coulomb blackade; Nanoscience;

    Abstract : In this thesis, quantum transport through nanostructures is addressed theoretically by considering simplified model systems representing the most important features of quantum dots or molecules. The generic model consists of a central region coupled to noninteracting leads. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Play of Light and Spins: Excitation and Detection of Non-linear Magnetization Dynamics using Light

    Author : Shreyas Muralidhar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin waves; laser-induced magnetization dynamics; Brillouin light scattering; Spin Hall nano-oscillators; neuromorphic computing; Ising machines;

    Abstract : The excitation and detection of magnetization dynamics play key roles in the field of spintronics and magnonics. In this thesis, we investigate a contactless method of exciting nonlinear magnetization dynamics using a femtosecond pulsed laser, and study the same with a Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) microscope. 3. 3. Spin Vortices, Interlayer Exchange, and Magnetocalorics in Multilayers

    Author : Milton Persson; Vladislav Korenivski; David B. Haviland; Coriolan Tiusan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spin vortex pairs; bimerons; RKKY; finite size effects; nanostructure magnetocalorics; atomistic spin dynamics; nanocalorimetry; Spinvirvelpar; bimeron; RKKY; finita storlekseffekter; magnetkalorimetri i nanostrukturer; atomistisk spindynamik; nanokalorimetri; Material and Nano Physics; Material- och nanofysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we study strongly coupled pairs of spin vortices, in a configurationsuch that the cores attract while external fields act to pull them apart, with potential applications in magnetic random access memory (MRAM) and oscillators.Inertial decoupling of the cores has been studied and can be achieved with weak nanosecond pulses by the help of anharmonicity. 4. 4. Magneto-optical studies of dilute nitrides and II-VI diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum structures

    Author : Daniel Dagnelund; Irina Buyanova; Weimin Chen; Marek Godlewski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dilute nitrides; DMS; defect; ODMR; optically detected magnetic resonance; spin injection; PLE; photoluminescence excitation; post-growth hydrogenation; heterojunction; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis work aims at a better understanding of magneto-optical properties of dilute nitrides and II-VI diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum structures. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part gives an introduction of the research fields, together with a brief summary of the scientific results included in the thesis. READ MORE
