1. Arachidonic acid metabolism in corneal epithelial cells : Identification of lipoxygenase isoforms
Abstract : The metabolism of arachidonic acid in the human cornea was investigated and compared with the metabolism in cattle and primates. All three species showed significant arachidonic acid metabolism inthe epithelium, whereas the activity in the stroma and the endothelium was low or undetectable. READ MORE

2. Human Bone Alkaline Phosphatase Isoforms
Abstract : Determination of serum total alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is frequently requested in clinical routine, mostly to estimate skeletal and hepatobiliary status. In this respect, clarification of the various ALP isoenzymes and isoforms contributing to the total ALP activity could be valuable in daily medical decision making. READ MORE

3. Functional Significance of Multiple Poly(A) Polymerases (PAPs)
Abstract : 3’ end cleavage and polyadenylation are important steps in the maturation of eukaryotic mRNAs. Poly(A) polymerase (PAP), the enzyme catalysing the addition of adenosine residues, exists in multiple isoforms. In this study the functional significance of multiple poly(A) polymerases have been investigated. READ MORE

4. The Plasma Membrane H+-ATPase - Identification of a 14-3-3 binding motif
Abstract : The P-type plasma membrane H+-ATPases form a group of proteins only found in plants and fungi. The pumping of protons across the plasma membrane, energized by ATP hydrolysis, creates an electrochemical gradient that is essential for solute transport and internal pH regulation. READ MORE

5. The 14-3-3 protein family - Conserved structure, diverse functions
Abstract : While once abstruse, 14-3-3 proteins are now well known as players in several cellular processes. These processes range from apoptosis and mitosis in mammals and yeast, to regulation of primary metabolism in plants. To date, 104 proteins have been shown to interact with 14-3-3s of which 85 are found in mammals and yeast, and 21 are found in plants. READ MORE
