1. Searching for Gamma Rays from Galaxy Clusters with the Fermi Large Area Telescope : Cosmic Rays and Dark Matter
Abstract : In this licentiate thesis, I report a search for GeV γ rays towards the location of Galaxy clusters. I mainly discuss the results of a search for cosmic-ray (CR) induced γ-ray emission but also briefly elaborate on a related study, searching for Dark Matter (DM)-induced γ-ray emission from Galaxy clusters. 2. Degenerative changes of the human temporomandibular joint : A radiological, microscopical, histomorphometrical and biochemical study
Abstract : In five autopsy specimen studies human temporomandibular joints were investigated by conventional tomography, macroscopy, and microscopy for degenerative changes, in particular erosive hard-tissue changes. In the microscopical evaluation special attention was paid to the calcified cartilage. 3. Joint Source-Channel Coding using Trellis Coded CPM
Abstract : The thesis investigates Joint Source and Channel Coding(JSCC) using combined Trellis Coded Quantization (TCQ) and coded modulation. First we investigate a JSCC scheme using combined TCQ/Trellis Coded CPM (TCQ/TCCPM). Based on the BCJR algorithm for trellis coded CPM, we derive an optimal soft decoding algorithm for the considered systems. READ MORE

4. Temporomandibular disorders in women—symptoms and signs in population-based studies
Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate symptoms and signs of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and orofacial pain in the Swedish female population in relation to some other health factors. The thesis includes four cross-sectional studies. READ MORE

5. Joint destruction in rheumatoid arthritis : experimental, clinical and epidemiological studies
Abstract : Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease characterized by chronic polyarticular synovial inflammation. Erosive joint destruction represents a major unsolved complication of RA. Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to obtain increased knowledge of joint destruction by using a multidisciplinary approach. READ MORE
