  1. 1. Synthesis, properties and applications of chalcogen-containing antioxidants

    Author : Jonas Malmström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : In the first part, the preparation and properties of chalcogen-containing vitamin E analogues are described. The sulfur compound 3,3,4,6,7-pentamethyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]thiophene-5-ol was prepared by two different routes using ionic and radical chemistry. Interesting rearrangements were observed in the two synthetic pathways. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Generation and Recombination in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Thin-Film Solar Cells

    Author : Jonas Malmström; Lars Stolt; Uwe Rau; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; solar energy conversion; solar cells; Cu In; Ga Se2; device modelling; optical properties; electron-hole generation; light trapping; electron-hole recombination; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The solar cell technology based on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) thin-films provides a promising route to cost competitive solar electricity. The standard device structure is ZnO:Al/ZnO/CdS/CIGS/Mo films on a glass substrate, where the first three layers are n-type semiconductors with wide bandgaps, forming a pn-junction with the p-type CIGS absorber layer; the Mo layer serves as a back contact. 3. 3. Interfacing Complementary Separation Techniques with Mass Spectrometry Utilizing Electrophoresis, Nanoparticles, and Functionalized Magnetic Beads

    Author : David Malmström; Jonas Bergquist; Magnus Wetterhall; Alejandro Cifuentes; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has during the last two decades become more robust and been able to separate neutral analytes without compromising the downstream detection. An interesting aspect in CE compared to more commonly used high-performance liquid chromatography is the orthogonal separation mechanism provided by CE. READ MORE

  4. 4. Nanoparticles in capillary electrophoresis : what are the benefits?

    Author : David Malmström; Jonas Bergquist; Charlotta Turner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis is a technique that separate compounds based on charge and size. During the last two decades capillary electrophoresis (CE) and mass spectrometry (MS) has gained in interest, become more robust to use and able to separate neutral analytes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Oxidized Cladophora nanocellulose derivatives : Functionalization towards biocompatible materials

    Author : Igor Rocha; Jonas Lindh; Natalia Ferraz; Albert Mihranyan; Maria Strömme; Eva Malmström Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cladophora nanocellulose; TEMPO oxidation; periodate oxidation; sulfonation; cellulose beads; surface properties; biomaterials; cell studies; hemocompatibility;

    Abstract : Nanocellulose is a promising candidate for biomedical applications because of its enhanced mechanical properties, increased surface area and greater porosity compared to bulk cellulose.This thesis investigates the functionalization of Cladophora nanocellulose and evaluates the influence of these modifications on physicochemical properties and biocompatibility of the material.
