1. Ion Beam Analysis of First Wall Materials Exposed to Plasma in Fusion Devices
Abstract : One major step needed for fusion to become a reliable energy source is the development of materials for the extreme conditions (high temperature, radioactivity and erosion) caused by hot plasmas. The main goal of the present study is to use and optimise ion beam methods (lateral resolution and sensitivity) to characterise the distribution of hydrogen isotopes that act as fuel. READ MORE

2. Accelerator Mass Spectrometry of 36Cl and 129I : Analytical Aspects and Applications
Abstract : Two long-lived halogen radionuclides (36Cl, T1/2 = 301 kyr, and 129I, T1/2 = 15.7 Myr) have been studied by means of Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) at the Uppsala Tandem Laboratory. The 36Cl measurements in natural samples using a medium-sized tandem accelerator (~1 MeV/amu) have been considered. READ MORE

3. Anthropogenic 129I Traced in Environmental Archives by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Since the beginning of the nuclear era, starting during the 1940s, large amount of radioactivity has been released into the environment. This thesis deals with the temporal and spatial distribution of the anthropogenic radioisotope 129I (T1/2= 15.7 Myr) in northern Europe. READ MORE

4. High Rate Electron Capture Dissociation Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Advances in science and technology during the past decade have greatly enhanced the level of the structural investigation of macromolecules – peptides and proteins. Biological mass spectrometry has become one of the most precise and sensitive techniques in peptide and protein analysis. READ MORE

5. Solution-processed light-emitting electrochemical cells : challenges and opportunities
Abstract : Our world is filling up with electronics. High-tech gadgets are integrated everywhere, from smart fridges able to track expiry dates and food usage, to microchip implants that let us unlock doors and pay with our hands. READ MORE
