  1. 1. High-Aspect Ratio Nanofabrication for Hard X-Ray Zone Plates

    Author : Karolis Parfeniukas; Ulrich Vogt; Hans Hertz; Anne Sakdinawat; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nanofabrication; x-ray optics; zone plate; tungsten; silicon; reactive ion etching; metal-assisted chemical etching; Ronchi test; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Hard x-ray nanoimaging enables structural investigations of new materials for many applications. For high-resolution experiments, zone plate x-ray optics are commonly chosen.Two methods of zone plate nanofabrication are presented in this thesis.Zone plates are circular diffraction gratings with radially decreasing grating period. 2. 2. Protein Model Quality Assessment : A Machine Learning Approach

    Author : Karolis Uziela; Arne Elofsson; Liam McGuffin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Protein Model Quality Assessment; structural bioinformatics; machine learning; deep learning; support vector machine; proq; Artificial Neural Network; protein structure prediction; Biochemistry towards Bioinformatics; biokemi med inriktning mot bioinformatik;

    Abstract : Many protein structure prediction programs exist and they can efficiently generate a number of protein models of a varying quality. One of the problems is that it is difficult to know which model is the best one for a given target sequence. Selecting the best model is one of the major tasks of Model Quality Assessment Programs (MQAPs). READ MORE

  3. 3. Effects of Vibrio cholerae protease and pigment production on environmental survival and host interaction

    Author : Karolis Vaitkevicius; Sun Nyunt Wai; Timo Korhonen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bacteria-host interaction; Nematode; Metalloprotease; Medical microbiology; Medicinsk mikrobiologi;

    Abstract : Only two out of more than 200 V. cholerae serogroups, classified on the basis of LPS structure, are associated with epidemic or pandemic cholera. These toxigenic serogroups carry phage-derived pathogenicity islands coding for the main virulence factors for establishment of cholera disease – cholera toxin (CTX) and toxin-coregulated pilus (TCP).
