  1. 1. Kissing knees - factors behind the attraction. Knee abduction in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury

    Author : Anna Cronström; Idrottsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : ACL injury; Sensorimotor control; Rehabilitation; Prevention; Movement quality; Postural orientation;

    Abstract : Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and patellofemoral pain (PFP) are common sports-related knee injuries. Their consequences include compromised health of the effected individual and substantial financial costs for society. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Involvement of the structures of antisense RNA, target RNA, and their complexes in plasmid R1 copy number regulation

    Author : Charlotta Ingvoldstad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Plasmid R1 is a low-copy-number plasmid which belongs to the incompatibility group FII. R1 regulates its own copy number. Initiation of replication of plasmid R1 requires the binding of the RepA protein to oriR1. RepA acts in cis and has to be synthesized de novo for each round of replication. READ MORE

  3. 3. CopA and CopT: The Perfect RNA Couple

    Author : Jacoba G. Slagter-Jäger; Gerhart Wagner; Wolfgang Nellen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; antisense RNA; plasmid; U-turn; four-way junction; RNA-RNA interaction; Hfq; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Antisense RNAs regulate gene expression in many bacterial systems. The best characterized examples are from prokaryotic accessory elements such as phages, plasmids and transposons. Many of these antisense RNAs have been identified as plasmid copy number regulators where they regulate the replication frequency of the plasmid by negative feedback. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gene regulation models of viral genetic switches

    Author : Maria Werner; Erik Aurell; Michael Hörnquist; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biological physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : The recent decades of research in molecular biology have resulted in break-throughs concerning our knowledge of the genetic code, protein structures and functions of the different cellular components. With this new information follows an increased interest in constructing computational models of the biological systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Computational studies of flow in Couette Rheometer and particle interaction in non-Newtonian fluids

    Author : Naser Hamedi; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : Non-Newtonian fluids; Correction factor; Fluid properties; Couette Rheometer; Particle interaction; Sedimentation; Computational Fluid dynamics; Plug flow; Herschel Bulkley; Power-law fluid; Immeresed boundary method;

    Abstract : This work aims to study the flow of non-Newtonian fluids and has two main goals. First, the power-law and Herschel Bulkley fluids are studied in a Couette rheometer. Second, the static and dynamic interaction of dual particles in power-law fluid are investigated. READ MORE
