  1. 1. Engine Knock: Characteristics and Mechanisms

    Author : Klaas Burgdorf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SWACER; SI engines; quasi-detonation; autoignition; developing detonation; knock;

    Abstract : Knock in SI engines limits both power density and fuel conversion efficiency. The main mechanisms with the potential to generate the cylinder pressure fluctuations generally observed during knocking combustion are discussed. It is reasoned that some mechanisms of flame acceleration can further amplify a shock wave generated by autoignition. READ MORE

  2. 2. Systems Biology of Recombinant Protein Production by Fungi

    Author : Lifang Liu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Systems biology has emerged as a highly potent tool for studying biological processes over the last decades. However, its application to complex metabolic processes such as protein secretion is still at the infant stage. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluation, synthesis and imaging of therapeutic oligonucleotides

    Author : Rouven Stulz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A new method for the ³⁴S isotope labelling of phosphorothioate oligonucleotides is reported which allows a practical synthesis of site specifically labeled oligonucleotides. Several applications of this method are reported. READ MORE

  4. 4. Homogeneous Lean Combustion in Downsized Spark-Ignited Engines

    Author : Kristoffer Clasén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy efficiency; lean combustion; emissons; transportation;

    Abstract : Emissions of greenhouse-gasses and noxious compounds from internal combustion engines propelling personal transportation vehicles is an imminent issue in the society. Therefore, it is vital to find means of reducing these emissions to decrease the impacts of transportation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Microenvironmental control of malignant growth

    Author : Benedek Bozoky; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The tumor microenvironment (TME) comprises a complex milieu of different cell types, including cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and immune cells, blood vessels, and the extracellular matrix. Through its interaction with cancer cells, it plays an essential role in cancer invasion and metastasis. READ MORE
