  1. 1. Contextualizing Accessibility : Interaction for Blind Computer Users

    Author : Fredrik Winberg; Yngve Sundblad; Ann Lantz; Alistair Edwards; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Accessibility; contextual; blind users; auditory displays and sonification; collaboration; CSCW; working division of labour; assistive interfaces; human-computer interaction; Disability research; Handikappsforskning;

    Abstract : Computer usage today is predominantly based on graphical interaction, where the visual presentation of information is essential both for input (hand-eye coordination when using a computer mouse), and output (seeing the information on a computer screen). This can create difficulties for blind computer users, both at an individual level when interacting with a computer, and also when collaborating with other computer users. READ MORE

  2. 2. Knowledge, Product Differentiation and Trade

    Author : Sara Johansson; Åke Andersson; Börje Johansson; Volker Nitsch; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Accessibility; Export; Human Capital; Innovation; Knowledge; Product Differentiation; Product Quality; Regional trade; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the influence of knowledge on the export performance of firms in different regions. More specifically, this study focuses on the impact of knowledge on the structure of regional export flows, in terms of horizontal and vertical product differentiation, as well as the geographical distribution of export flows. 4. 4. Knowledge demanded for action : studies of knowledge mediation in organisations

    Author : Ewa Braf; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Knowledge enables action and is used in action, but organisations per se do not possess knowledge or perform actions. Organisations act through their members - human actors - who demand actionable knowledge to enable knowledgeable actions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Scripted knowledge packages : implicit and explicit constraints on comprehension and memory

    Author : Stefan Samuelsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was (a) to specify how the use of predictive inferences in comprehension is constrained by scripted knowledge packages, (b) to examine recall for scripted representations, and (c) to specify mechanisms underlying the interplay between script-based constraints on predictive inferences and memory for these generic knowledge representations. In fourteen experiments, lipreading represented a method to detect implicit and explicit constraints on predictive inferences imposed by typicality, abstraction, and temporal order. READ MORE
