    Abstract : This thesis describes novel methods for the fabrication of nanometer-scale electronic devices, such as single-electron transistors and resonant tunneling diodes, from wire- and dot-shaped building blocks.     Abstract : The nuclear model for three dimensional cranking is extended to include a generalization of the Strutinski renormalization procedure from principal axis cranking to cranking about an tilted axis. The calculation is done using different approximations, to study whether this changes the result significantly. First the isospin approximation is used.
