  1. 1. Potential Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting Devices : A Journey Through the Opportunities and Challenges of Catalyst Classes

    Author : Robin N. Dürr; Leif Hammarström; Bruno Jousselme; Tomas Edvinsson; Haining Tian; Kevin Sivula; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrocatalysis; Electrolyzer cell; HER catalyst; OER catalyst; Water splitting; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this thesis work, different classes of catalysts and their suitability for integration into an electrolyzer cell has been investigated.Ruthenium based molecular catalysts have shown high activities and stabilities towards water oxidation in neutral pH. Especially the oligomeric catalysts exhibited a superior performance. READ MORE

  2. 2. The rule of hydrogen and rare earth metals in the formation of protective metal-oxides

    Author : Bent N. Tveten; KTH; []
    Keywords : chromium; high-temperature corrosion; oxide growth; scale adherence; hydrogen; yttria; REM; reactive element effect; gas phase analysis;

    Abstract : The effects of hydrogen and rare earth metal (REM) additionson the oxidation behavior of metals and alloys that formchromia, alumina and zirconia in 20 mbar O2and/or H2O have been investigated at elevated temperatures.The metal-gas reactions were studied by the use of isotopicallylabeled gas in combination with mass spectrometry and bymeasuring changes in the total pressure in a closed reactionchamber. 3. 3. Dual isotope (13C-14C) Studies of Water-Soluble Organic Carbon (WSOC) Aerosols in South and East Asia

    Author : Elena N. Kirillova; Örjan Gustafsson; Maria Cristina Facchini; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric aerosols; water-soluble organic carbon; carbon isotopes; South Asia; East Asia; source apportionment; aerosol aging; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Atmospheric aerosols may be emitted directly as particles (primary) or formed from gaseous precursors (secondary) from different natural and anthropogenic sources. The highly populated South and East Asia regions are currently in a phase of rapid economic growth to which high emissions of carbonaceous aerosols are coupled. READ MORE

  4. 4. Socioeconomic and sex differences in adolescents’ dietary intake, anthropometry and physical activity in Cameroon, Africa

    Author : Léonie Dapi N.; Urban Janlert; Christel Larsson; Agneta Hörnell; Thorkild Tylleskär; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adolescents; socioeconomic; energy intake; nutrient intake; physical activity; under-overweight; Cameroon; Public health science; Folkhälsovetenskap; näringslära; Nutrition;

    Abstract : Background: People in Cameroon are experiencing a dietary transition characterized by changing from traditional food habits to increased intake of highly processed sweet and fatty food. The rapid change in food pattern combined with an increased sedentary lifestyle has resulted in a rather high prevalence of obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. 5. 5. Homogenization of reaction-diffusion problems with nonlinear drift in thin structures

    Author : Vishnu Raveendran; Adrian Muntean; Emilio N.M. Cirillo; Claudia Timofte; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thin layer; homogenization; dimension reduction; reaction-diffusion-convection problem; two-scale convergence; effective transmission condition; fast drift; weak solvability of quasi-linear parabolic systems in unbounded domains.; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : We study the question of periodic homogenization of a variably scaled reaction-diffusion equation with non-linear drift of polynomial type. The non-linear drift was derived as hydrodynamic limit of a totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) for a population of interacting particles crossing a domain with obstacle. READ MORE
