  1. 1. Studies of collective phenomena in neutron deficient nuclei : by means of lifetime measurements, angular correlation measurements and the recoil-decay tagging technique

    Author : Karin Andgren; Bo Cederwall; Paul Nolan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heavy-ion reactions; multi-detector arrays; recoil separator; in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy; high spin states; lifetime measurements; recoil-decay tagging; nuclear shape; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The nucleus is a mesoscopic system that retains features from both the quantum and macroscopic worlds. A basic property of a macroscopic body is its shape. Nuclear shapes can be deduced from experimental data as they influence the excitation mode of the nucleus and hence the energies and lifetimes of its excited levels. READ MORE

  2. 2. The short, excited life of tellurium : Lifetime analysis of excited states in the Te midshell region

    Author : Ebba Ahlgren Cederlöf; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Johan Nyberg; Matthias Weiszflog; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma spectroscopy; lifetime measurement; lifetime; shell model; RDDS; DDCM; nuclear physics; nuclear structure; gamma spektroskopi; livstidsmätningar; livstid; skalmodellen; RDDS; DDCM; kärnfysik; kärnstruktur; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis, lifetimes of low lying excited states in the midshell region of tellurium isotopes are discussed. The nuclear lifetimes are interesting properties to study, since they are inversely proportional to the transition probabilities, which contain information on the underlying structure of the nucleus. 3. 3. Lifetime Measurements of Excited States in the Semi-Magic Nucleus 94Ru

    Author : Aysegul Ertoprak; Bo Cederwall; Magdalena Zielinska; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear structure; lifetime measurements; doppler shift attenuation method; thick target; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Lifetimes of highly excited states in the semi-magic (N=50) nucleus 94Ru were deduced from an analysis of the Doppler broadened transition line shapes. Excited states in 94Ru were populated in the 58Ni(40Ca, 4p)94Ru∗ fusion-evaporation reaction at the Grand Accélérateur National d’Ions Lourds (GANIL) accelerator complex situated in Caen, France. 4. 4. Lifetime modeling and management of transformers

    Author : Johanna Rosenlind; Rajeev Thottappillill; Zhong Dong Wang; KTH; []
    Keywords : transformers; lifetime modeling; asset management; thermal modeling; lifetime estimation;

    Abstract : This work have studied and developed lifetime estimation methods for the power transformer and how these could be used for asset management purposes. It is researchperformed in the intersection of the fields of reliability theory, statistical analysis, and stochastic process theory applied to lifetime estimations and management of transformers. 5. 5. Removal of ultrafine particles by intermediate air filters in ventilation systems. Evaluation of performance and analysis of applications

    Author : Bingbing Shi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; measurements; ultrafine particles; lifetime cost; indoor air quality; health effect; air cleaning; particle source; modelling; intermediate filter; filter standard;

    Abstract : Epidemiological and toxicological studies demonstrate that ultrafine particles (UFPs) are strongly related with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases and syndromes. One common method to reduce human exposure to particulate air pollution is the use of intermediate class filters (F5-F9 class filters according to EN779:2002). READ MORE
