1. Lignin Extraction from Black Liquor - Properties of the Liquors and Sulphur Content in the Lignin
Abstract : Kraft lignin isolated by precipitation can be considered as being a valuable renewable source of energy and material. Removing lignin from black liquor is also advantageous as it decreases the load on the recovery boiler, which is usually the limiting factor in the production of kraft pulp. READ MORE

2. Biosynthesis, interactions, and structure of native lignin
Abstract : Wood biomass is an important resource in the development ofstrategies towards replacement of fossil-based materials. Woodcomprises cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin, in amounts thatvary between species. READ MORE

3. The initial phase of sodium sulfite pulping of softwood : A comparison of different pulping options
Abstract : Single stage and two-stage sodium sulfite cooking were carried out on either spruce, pine or pure pine heartwood chips to investigate the influence of several process parameters on the initial phase of such a cook down to about 60 % pulp yield. The cooking experiments were carried out in the laboratory with either a lab-prepared or a mill-prepared cooking acid and the temperature and time were varied. READ MORE

4. Deepening the insights of lignin structure : Lignin-carbohydrate complex (LCC) fractionation and characterization and Kraft lignin amination
Abstract : Improvement of kraft pulping delignification efficiency and value-addition of industrial kraft lignin are two attractive topics. The proposal that delignification is deteriorated by the presence of lignin-carbohydrate complex (LCC) is still being debated. READ MORE

5. Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Lignin into Bio-Oil
Abstract : Lignin, one of the three main components of lignocellulosic biomass, is the second most abundant organic polymer found on Earth. Nowadays, most of the lignin (almost 99%) produced in the Kraft pulping process is used as internal fuel. READ MORE
