  1. 1. Development and Application of Methods based on DOAS and FTIR Absorption Spectroscopy for Atmospheric Research

    Author : Bo Galle; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; open-path; nitrous oxide; DOAS; long-path absorption; landfill; methane; climate gases; ozone depletion; biogenic emissions; fugitive emissions; FTIR; ammonia;

    Abstract : Over the past decades concern about the environmental impact on our atmosphere from human activities has been constantly increasing. From the recognition of local industrial pollution in the first part of this century, over regional scale problems related to urbanisation and growth of traffic systems to global environmental problems such as climate change and stratospheric ozone depletion. 2. 2. Development and application of Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) for Asian urban air monitoring and atmospheric research

    Author : Yu Yong; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Asian cities; air pollution; DOAS; free radicals; aerosol; long-path absorption; emission sources; industrial emission; atmospheric chemistry;

    Abstract : Urban air pollution is a serious concern in developing countries and there is a need for qualified measurements of a range of compounds on a nation-wide basis. A suitable potential technique for air monitoring is Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS). READ MORE

  3. 3. Application of Infrared and UV-Visible Remote Sensing Techniques for Studying the Stratosphere and for Estimating Antrophogenic Emissions

    Author : Johan Mellqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stratospheric ozone; temperature dependence; non linearity; FTIR; VOC; flue gas; DOAS; long path FTIR; fugitive emissions;

    Abstract : Infrared and UV/visible broadband absorption techniques have been used in three applications related to environmental research and atmospheric science. The techniques are based on measuring the attenuation of light by the atmosphere in the infrared and UV/visible region, and since a very large number of species absorb light in these wavelength regions, the techniques studied allow the measurement of several species simultaneously. 4. 4. Diode laser spectroscopy in extended wavelength ranges

    Author : Ulf Gustafsson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diode-laser spectroscopy; frequency-modulation spectroscopy; frequency conversion; fluorescence spectroscopy; scattering; diffraction; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Gustafsson; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; absorption spectroscopy;

    Abstract : Diode laser spectroscopy performed in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectral regions is presented. The accessible wavelength range for visible and near-infrared diode lasers is extended by the use of sum- and difference-frequency generation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Environmental Monitoring - using diode-laser-based spectroscopic techniques

    Author : Gabriel Somesfalean; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diode-laser spectroscopy; frequency-modulation spectroscopy; frequency conversion; diffraction; scattering; Electromagnetism; acoustics; akustik; optik; absorption spectroscopy; Elektromagnetism; optics; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Somesfalean;

    Abstract : Monitoring of environmental gases is necessary to understand the complex processes governing global warming and the impact of pollutant emissions related to human activity. Diode-laser-based spectroscopic techniques, being robust and affordable, have a great potential to become an industrially well-established technology for environmental sensing. READ MORE
