1. Aseptic Loosening of Orthopedic Implants : Osteoclastogenesis Regulation and Potential Therapeutics
Abstract : Aseptic loosening is the main cause of failure of orthopedic prostheses. With no pharmaceuticals to prevent or mitigate periprosthetic bone degradation, a surgery to replace the loose implant with a new one is the only choice to restore patients’ function. READ MORE

2. Kinematics and fixation of total knee arthroplasties : a clinical, radiographic, scintimetric, and roentgen stereophotogrammetric evaluation
Abstract : Aseptic loosening of the tibial component is an important cause of failure after total knee arthroplasty. Bone destruction often claimed to be caused by the cement makes the revision difficult. In order to treat younger patients, uncemented fixation has been introduced, but the etiology to loosening is multifactorial and only partly known. READ MORE

3. Radiographic assessment of cup migration and wear after hip replacement
Abstract : Methods are needed for accurate measurement of acetabular cup migration and wear after hip replacement. The EBRA (Ein Bild Röntgen Analyse) method was recently introduced as a computerized method for radiographic assessment of acetabular cup migration. READ MORE

4. On late complications with HA coated hip arthroplasties
Abstract : 100 hips in 86 patients were operated with a total hip arthroplasty entirely coated with a 155±35 µm thick HA coating, and included in a clinical and radiological follow-up study. The female/male ratio was 75/25, and the mean age was 56 years (32-73). Early clinical results were excellent, especially pain relief. No thigh pain was found. READ MORE

5. On the aetiology of aseptic loosening in joint arthroplasties, and routes to improved cemented fixation
Abstract : Background: Aseptic loosening is the most common single cause for revisions in major joint arthroplasties worldwide. Different theories for aseptic loosening have been discussed during the last two decades. There is a need for improving fixation in both cemented and uncemented implants. READ MORE
