  1. 1. Cellulose Nanofibril-based Hybrid Materials : Eco-friendly design towards separation and packaging applications

    Author : Luis Valencia; Aji Mathew; Olli Ikkala; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cellulose nanofibrils; hybrid materials; membranes; aerogels; separation; food packaging; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : Nanocellulose has been lately considered as the “Holy-Grail” in the design of sustainable materials due to its bio-origin and an unprecedented combination of prominent features, including good mechanical properties, anisotropy and versatile surface chemistry. In addition, nanocellulose in the form of cellulose nanofibrils, can adopt variable structures and morphologies depending on the processing technique, such as aerogels, films and monoliths. 2. 2. Microscale Tools for Sample Preparation, Separation and Detection of Neuropeptides

    Author : Andreas Dahlin; Jonas Bergquist; Karin E. Markides; Robert T. Kennedy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Neuropeptides; Microchip; Enhanced microdialysis; Poly dimethylsiloxane PDMS ; Electrospray ionization ESI ; Multidimensional separation; Electrochemical manipulation; Mass spectrometry MS ; Capillary electrophoresis CE ; Microdevice; Microfabrication; Micro total analysis system μ-TAS ; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The analysis of low abundant biological molecules is often challenging due to their chemical properties, low concentration and limited sample volumes. Neuropeptides are one group of molecules that fits these criteria. Neuropeptides also play an important role in biological functions, which makes them extra interesting to analyze. READ MORE

  3. 3. Turbulent Boundary Layer Separation and Control

    Author : Ola Lögdberg; P. Henrik Alfredsson; Jens Fransson; Guido Buresti; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flow control; adverse pressure gradient APG ; flow separation; vortex generators; jet vortex generators; pulsed jet vortex generators; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Boundary layer separation is an unwanted phenomenon in most technical applications, as for instance on airplane wings, ground vehicles and in internal flow systems. If separation occurs, it causes loss of lift, higher drag and energy losses. It is thus essential to develop methods to eliminate or delay separation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Vortex generators and turbulent boundary layer separation control

    Author : Ola Lögdberg; Henrik Alfredsson; Per-Åge Krogstad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulent boundary layer separation; adverse pressure gradient; vortex generators; control of separation; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Boundary layer separation is usually an unwanted phenomenon in most technical applications as for instance on airplane wings, on ground vehicles and in internal flows such as diffusers. If separation occurs it leads to loss of lift, higher drag and results in energy losses. READ MORE

  5. 5. Experimental study of phase separation in Fe-Cr based alloys

    Author : Jing Zhou; John Ågren; Joakim Odqvist; Peter Hedström; Andersson Marcus; KTH; []
    Keywords : Duplex stainless steels; Ferritic stainless steels; Spinodal decomposition; Phase separation; Atom probe tomography; Clustering; Radial distribution function RDF ;

    Abstract : Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) are important engineering materials due to their combination of good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However, as a consequence of their ferrite content, DSSs are sensitive to the so-called ‘475°C embrittlement’, which is induced by phase separation, namely, the ferrite decomposed into Fe-rich ferrite (α) and Cr-rich ferrite (α'), respectively.
