1. Studies of magnetic multi-core nanoparticles for biomedical applications
Abstract : In recent years, there has been growing interest in using magnetic multi-core nanoparticles in biomedical applications, and particularly in bioseparation and biosensing. In this thesis, two computer simulation techniques have been implemented to study the magnetic response of these particles, and a microfluidic platform has been fabricated to manipulate bio-functionalized magnetic particles in suspension for immunoassays. 2. Immunoassays using high-Tc SQUIDs
Abstract : The development of a system for immunoassays using highly sensitive high-Tc superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) is described in this thesis.High-Tc SQUIDs were fabricated using pulsed laser deposition and photolithography. READ MORE

3. High-Tc SQUIDs for biomedical applications: immunoassays, MEG, and ULF-MRI
Abstract : This thesis describes high transition temperature superconducting quantum interference devices (high-Tc SQUIDs) for magnetic immunoassays (MIAs), magnetoencephalography (MEG) and ultra-low field magnetic resonance imaging (ULF-MRI).High-Tc dc SQUID sensors were fabricated in single layers of YBa2Cu3O7−δ deposited by pulsed laser deposition and patterned using photolithography on 10×10 mm2 SrTiO3 bicrystal substrates.
