  1. 1. Manganese ores as oxygen carriers for chemical-looping combustion

    Author : Sebastian Sundqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical-looping with oxygen uncoupling; gaseous fuel; methane; syngas; Chemical-looping combustion; manganese ores; combined oxides; wood char and solid fuels;

    Abstract : Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is a fluidized bed system that circulates metal oxide particles in order to transport oxygen from an air reactor to a fuel reactor. In the fuel reactor a fuel reduces the oxygen carrier while producing CO2 and H2O. The oxygen carrier is then transported back to the air reactor and reoxidized. READ MORE

  2. 2. Possibilities and Challenges of Using Combined Manganese Oxides as Oxygen Carriers

    Author : Malin Hanning; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon capture; combined oxides; manganese oxides; oxygen carriers; manganese ores; chemical-looping combustion;

    Abstract : One alternative proposed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is carbon capture and storage, where the carbon dioxide emitted from large point sources is captured, compressed and stored in underground geological formations. Many of the largest point sources of carbon dioxide are power plants and industries fuelled by fossil fuels or biomass. READ MORE

  3. 3. Manganese Materials in Solid Fuel Chemical Looping Combustion

    Author : Matthias Schmitz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon capture; CLOU; manganese ores; chemical-looping;

    Abstract : Against the background of rising anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, carbon capture andstorage (CCS) has been proposed as a means of mitigating climate change by storing CO2 capturedfrom large point sources in underground geological formations such as aquifers or depleted oilandgas fields. While first generation CCS technologies rely on active gas separation with anassociated energy penalty, chemical looping combustion (CLC) can avoid that step by utilizingsolid metal oxide particles to transfer oxygen from combustion air to fuel, making CO2 captureinherent to the process. 4. 4. Copper and Manganese-based Oxygen Carriers in Chemical-Looping Combustion (CLC) and Chemical-Looping with Oxygen Uncoupling (CLOU)

    Author : Mehdi Arjmand; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The chemical-looping combustion (CLC) and chemical-looping with oxygen uncoupling (CLOU) processes are attractive solutions for efficient combustion with inherent separation of carbon dioxide. These processes use a metal oxide as an oxygen carrier to transfer oxygen from an air to a fuel reactor where the fuel, or gasification products of the fuel, is converted. READ MORE

  5. 5. Properties of oxygen carriers based on natural and waste materials at high degrees of reduction

    Author : Victor Purnomo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high reduction; defluidization; chemical-looping gasification; oxygen carrier; reactivity;

    Abstract : Oxygen carriers play an important role in multiple energy conversion processes, such as chemical-looping technology and oxygen-carrier-aided combustion. This thesis particularly explores how a high reduction degree of an oxygen carrier can affect its performance. READ MORE
