  1. 1. Response of glaciers to climate change : Mass balance sensitivity, sea level rise and runoff

    Author : Mattias de Woul; Regine Hock; Peter Jansson; Margareta Hansson; Roger J. Braithwaite; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glacier; mass balance modelling; mass balance sensitivity; sea level rise; glacial runoff; Hofsjökull; Storglaciären; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study is to enhance our understanding of the response of glaciers to climate change. Global sea level is affected by changes in glacier ice volume, and melt-water from glaciers is a principal water source in many regions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mass balance of perfluoroalkyl acids in the Baltic Sea

    Author : Marko Filipovic; Urs Berger; Michael McLachlan; Bert Ove Lund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFOA; PFOS; mass balance; Baltic Sea; PFOA; PFOS; massbalans; Östersjön; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Abstract : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are man-made chemicals. Their unique properties make them beneficial for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, such as constituents in fire fighting foams, hydraulic oils and food packaging materials. READ MORE

  3. 3. Predictive Modeling of Lake Eutrophication

    Author : Jan Mikael Malmaeus; Lars Håkanson; Kurt Pettersson; Jürg Bloesch; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; mass balance model; dynamic model; mechanistic model; phosphorus; LEEDS; suspended particulate matter; settling velocity; sedimentation; accumulation sediments; burial; diffusion; climate scenario; Erken; Balaton; Kinneret; Batorino; Miastro; Naroch; Galten; Ekoln; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis presents predictive models for important variables concerning eutrophication effects in lakes. The keystone is a dynamic phosphorus model based on ordinary differential equations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Transient Air to Fuel Ratio Response in a Fuel Injected S.I Engine

    Author : Göran Almkvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamic; A F; model; transient; air to fuel; response; time constant; film; behavior; lambda; time-delay; fuel; mass; deposit factor;

    Abstract : Future emission standards make it necessary to focus on the conditions under which engine emissions are produced, especially before the catalyst light off. During practical driving conditions, such as those represented by the FTP 75 test cycle, the engine is operated very much under transient conditions regarding load and speed. READ MORE

  5. 5. Appropriate Modelling Complexity: An Application to Mass Balance Modelling of Lake Vänern, Sweden

    Author : Magnus Dahl; Lars Håkanson; David I Wilson; Gesa Weyhenmeyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Lake Vänern; phosphorus; mass balance modelling; model complexity; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : This work is about finding an appropriate modelling complexity for a mass-balance model for phosphorus in Lake Vänern, Sweden. A statistical analysis of 30 years of water quality data shows that epilimnion and hypolimnion have different water quality and should be treated separately in a model. Further vertical division is not motivated. READ MORE
