  1. 1. Dynamic Plate and Shell Equations Using Power Series Expansions - Applications Including Elasticity, Poroelasticity and Fluid Loading

    Author : Anders Hägglund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; approximate boundary conditions; series expansion; Biot equations; vibrations; cylindrical shell; dispersion curves; plate theory; thin shells; porous plate;

    Abstract : Thin structures are used in a wide range of engineering applications. The subject of this thesis is the derivation of approximate equations for the dynamics of thin plates and shells using series expansion methods. READ MORE

  2. 2. Detection of blade icing and its influence on wind turbine vibrations

    Author : Sudhakar Gantasala; Jan-Olov Aidanpää; Michel Cervantes; Jean-Claude Luneno; Viktor Berbyuk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer Aided Design; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Wind turbine installations in extreme conditions like cold climate have increased over thelast few years and expected to grow in future in North America, Europe, and Asia regions due to good wind resources and land availability. Their installed capacity could reach 186 GW by the end of 2020. READ MORE

  3. 3. Numerical Methods for Turbomachinery Aeromechanical Predictions

    Author : Maria Angelica Mayorca; Damian Vogt; Torsten Fransson; Robert Kielb; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aeromechanics; numerical tools; methods; turbomachinery; aeroelasticity; gas turbines; vibrations;

    Abstract : In both aviation and power generation, gas turbines are used as key components. An important driver of technological advance in gas turbines is the race towards environmentally friendly machines, decreasing the fuel burn, community noise and NOx emissions. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the influence of surface roughness on rolling contact forces

    Author : Oskar Lundberg; Ines Lopez Arteaga; Leif Kari; Matthias Kröger; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rolling contact; Surface roughness; Contact forces; Contact modelling; Friction; Road; Asphalt; Substrate; Test-rig; Sliding; Stick–slip; Tyre; Rubber; Tread-block; Wheel–rail interaction; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Road vehicle tyres, railway wheels and ball bearings all generate rolling contact forces which are transferred within a finite area of contact between the rolling element and the substrate. Either it is visible or not for the human eye, a certain degree of roughness is always present on the contacting surfaces and it influences the generation of both vertical and lateral contactforces. 5. 5. Vibrations in Lightweight Buildings - Perception and Prediction

    Author : Juan Negreira; Teknisk akustik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Psycho-vibratory evaluation; Vibrations; Timber floors; Lightweight; Measurements; Serviceability criteria; Vibration annoyance; Vibration acceptability; Elastomer; Finite element method; Prediction Tools.;

    Abstract : When the Swedish construction code (in 1994) allowed wooden multi-storey buildings to be built, this type of lightweight construction became popular due to its low cost and ease of construction, and also because wood is a plentiful resource in Sweden. Drawbacks in such buildings are disturbing vibrations and noise propagating in the construction, especially through junctions. READ MORE
