  1. 21. Characterisation of integrin splice variants and the interaction between integrins and the urokinase receptor

    Author : Gunbjørg Svineng; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; integrin β1; alternative splicing; Alu element; urokinase receptor; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Integrins are a family of receptors involved in adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins and in cell-cell contacts. Each integrin consists of one a and one β subunit. Our main interest has been the β1 subunit and its splice variants. READ MORE

  2. 22. Intracellular processing of pre-a-inhibitor

    Author : Maria Thuveson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; pre-alpha-inhibitor; heavy chain 3; bikunin; intracellular processing; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Pre-α-inhibitor (PαI) is a plasma protein consisting of a 25 and a 75 kDa polypeptide: bikunin and heavy chain 3 (H3), respectively. Both these polypeptides are made by hepatocytes and while passing through the Golgi complex, bikunin, which carries a chondroitin sulfate chain, becomes covalently linked to the C-terminal amino acid residue of H3 via its polysaccharide. 3. 23. Neural Stem and Progenitor Cells as a Tool for Tissue Regeneration

    Author : Ulrika Wallenquist; Karin Forsberg Nilsson; Lars Hillered; Karin Holmqvist; Anders Lewén; Johan Bengzon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatic brain injury; neural stem cells; transplantation; CNS; PNS; progenitor cells; inflammation; CCI; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Neurosurgery; neurokirurgi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Neural stem and progenitor cells (NSPC) can differentiate to neurons and glial cells. NSPC are easily propagated in vitro and are therefore an attractive tool for tissue regeneration. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause for death and disabilities. A fundamental problem following TBI is tissue loss. READ MORE

  4. 24. Dried blood sampling and digital readout to advance molecular diagnostics

    Author : Johan Björkesten; Ulf Landegren; Björn Högberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; molecular diagnostics; dried blood sample; DBS; digital readout; digital enumeration; DNA detection methods; proximity extension assay; protein stability; genotyping; rare mutations; cell free DNA; multiplex protein measurement.; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : A drastically increased capacity to measure large sets of molecular features in numerous patient samples in great detail will be required to fulfill the vision of precision medicine and wellness, which may characterize molecular diagnostics in the 21st century. Also sampling procedures need a renaissance to permit continuous sampling at population levels at reasonable cost. READ MORE

    Abstract : Adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) is widely used as an oncolytic agent for cancer therapy. However, its infectivity is highly dependent on the expression level of coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor (CAR) on the surface of tumor cells. READ MORE
