  1. 21. Synthesis of nanostructured and hierarchical materials for bio-applications

    Author : Fei Ye; Mamoun Muhammed; Andreas Fisher; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fe3O4; mSiO2; core-shell; MRI; multifunctional; PNIPAAm; LCST; gold; nanorod; nitric acid; AR; MDDC; biocompatibility; immunomodulation; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Abstract : In recent years, nanostructured materials incorporated with inorganic particles and polymers have attracted attention for simultaneous multifunctional biomedical applications. This thesis summarized three works, which are preparation of mesoporous silica coated superparamagnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4@mSiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) as magnetic resonance imaging T2 contrast agents, polymer grafted Fe3O4@mSiO2 NPs response to temperature change, synthesis and biocompatibility evaluation of high aspect ratio (AR) gold nanorods. Abstract : Additive Manufacturing (AM), over the past decade, has evolved into a versatile technology with significant applications in pharmaceutical research. This technology enables the production of drug formulations tailored to individual patients, offering customization in both dosage and dissolution profiles. READ MORE

  3. 23. Mesoporous supported lipid bilayers

    Author : Maria Claesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FRAP; Lipid bilayer; Mesoporous; AFM; Vesicle; Titania; Silica; QCM-D;

    Abstract : AbstractLipid bilayers are commonly used as simplified model systems of living cell membranes. They have shown to be important components in the development of biosensing devices where the bilayer acts as a host for transmembrane proteins, such as ion channels, that are utilized as sensing elements. 4. 24. Characterization and preparation of lightweight silica based ceramics for building applications

    Author : Edwin Escalera; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Abstract : Bolivia is a country with considerable quantities of non-metallic resources. Some important deposits of these resources are located in the high and cold Altiplano as well as in the tropical areas. These deposits are not being exploited industrially but both areas have production of some ceramics in a handmade and empiric way. READ MORE

  5. 25. Mesoporous Building Blocks : Synthesis and Characterization of Mesoporous Silica Particles and Films

    Author : Emma M. Björk; Magnus Odén; Fredik Söderlind; José Córdoba; Mika Lindén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Catalyst supports, drug delivery systems, hosts for nanoparticles, and solar cells are just some examples of the wide range of exciting applications for mesoporous silica. In order to optimize the performance of a specific application, controlling the material’s morphology and pore size is crucial. READ MORE
