  1. 1. Enzyme Immobilization in Mesoporous Silica

    Author : Hanna Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; immobilization; lipase; Mesoporous; particle morphology; feruloyl esterase; enzyme; encapsulation; silica; pore size; trypsin;

    Abstract : Catalysts are widely used in many industries for production of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fuels and energy. There is a need for more sustainable production processes, with reduced energy and raw material consumption together with a reduction in waste and toxic by-products. READ MORE

  2. 2. Formation of mesostructured silica based on non-ionic interactions

    Author : Andreas Sundblom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mesoporous silica; non-ionic block co-polymer; SBA-15.; colloidal suspension; silica-PEO interaction; formation mechanism; inorganic silica;

    Abstract : Mesostructured silica is a material consisting of a silica matrix with an organization in the meso range of 2-50 nm. The silica matrix is most often amorphous while the organization, induced by a structure directing agent, may generate a long-range mesoorder. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nanostructured Catalysts and Electrode Materials for PEM Fuel Cells

    Author : Kjell Wikander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PEMFC; mesoporous; alkylthiol; alkylamine; carbon; microemulsion; Fuel cell; surfactants; nanoparticles; electron microscopy; Pt; nanocasting; silica; cathode; phase transfer method; oxygen reduction;

    Abstract : The Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is a promising energy converting technology for powering automotives and electrical equipment using hydrogen gas as fuel and producing water as the only exhaust. The active carbon-supported platinum catalyst present in the electrodes limits the maximum power generation in state-of-the-art PEMFCs due to platinum’s poor activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) taking place at the cathode. 4. 4. Development of syntheses for nanostructured titania and silica

    Author : Gunnar Örn Simonarson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lithium intercalation; nanoparticles; X-ray characterization; mesoporous silica; mesoporous titania; spray deposition; Titanium dioxide;

    Abstract : Nanostructured titania is of great interest for a variety of energy and environmental applications, including conversion of solar energy, for energy storage systems and removal of organic pollutants in water and air. Titania is composed of earth abundant elements, it is environmentally friendly and chemically stable which makes it an attractive material to utilize. READ MORE

  5. 5. Novel Syntheses, Structures and Functions of Mesoporous Silica Materials

    Author : Rambabu Atluri; Alfonso E Garcia-Bennett; Maria Strömme; Paul Wright; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : The field of mesoporous silica has been studied for about 20 years but it is still an area attracting a lot of attention. The use of novel templating molecules and several issues related to the synthesis and fine structural details are still poorly understood. READ MORE
