  1. 1. Integrative genomic and survival analysis of breast tumors

    Author : Szilard Nemes; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biostatistics; cancer; survival analysis; gemonics; DNA copy number aberrations; messenger RNA;

    Abstract : With the continued accumulation of genomic data at ever increasing resolution the challenge ahead lies in reading out meaningful clinical/biological information form the data that can contribute to a better understanding of the cancerous process. The need for novel approaches, new statistical methods is therefore strong. READ MORE

  2. 2. RNA-mediated gene expression regulation

    Author : Paula Petronela Groza; Francesca Aguilo; Yuri B. Schwartz; Silvia Remeseiro; Henrik Nielsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA modifications; fibrillarin; 2 -O-methylation; translation; alternative splicing; METTL3; m6A; ZFP207; breast cancer; mouse ESCs; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : The regulation of gene expression is a key mechanism that underlies all biological processes, from embryonic development to the onset and progression of various diseases, including cancer. A growing body of evidence places RNA molecules at the center of critical regulatory steps in gene expression. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of a Proteinase-activated Cell Surface Receptor

    Author : Sverker Nystedt; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; receptor; proteinase; PAR-2; molecular cloning; in situ hybridisation; Expression; G-protein; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : The G protein-coupled receptors form one of the largest families of proteins involved in signalling between cells. It contains receptors for molecules as diverse as biogenic amines, glycoproteins and enzymes. The manuscripts included in this thesis together describe the initial characterisation of a previously unknown receptor of this class. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genital human papillomaviruses. Studies of their occurrence, type spectrum and expression

    Author : Ola Forslund; Malmö Klinisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mRNA expression; microwell; HPV 70; type determination; CIN; quantification; urine; multifocal infections; hybridization; PCR; HPV; human papillomavirus; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence of genital human papillomavirus infection was determined in different categories of patients by means of PCR. In high proportion of young women attending an adolescent clinic, the presence of HPV DNA was demonstrated in simultaneously urethral and cervical samples, suggesting that genital HPV infections are often multifocal. 5. 5. MicroRNA expression profiles in prostate cancer bone metastases : functional effects of microRNA-23c, -375, and -4328

    Author : Helena Järemo; Pernilla Wikström; Maria Brattsand; Anders Bergh; Elin Thysell; Guido Jenster; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer bone metastases; microRNA; metastatic subtypes; extracellular vesicles; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Non-coding microRNAs (miRNAs) function as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression by interacting with messenger RNA. Dysregulation of miRNAs has many possible consequences, including tumor-suppressive or -promoting ones, and restoring or preventing the effects of miRNA alteration has therapeutic potential. READ MORE
