  4. 4. Small-Scale Absorbed Dose Modelling in Selective Internal Radiation Therapy

    University dissertation from University of Gothenburg

    Author : Jonas Högberg; Göteborgs universitet.; University of Gothenburg.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clusters; dosimetry; heterogeneity; liver; microspheres; radioembolisation; simulations; SIRT; surgery; yttrium-90;

    Abstract : Radioembolisation (RE), with yttrium-90 (90Y) labelled microspheres, is an increasingly common treatment method for unresectable liver tumours. The tolerable mean absorbed dose for normal liver (NL) tissue is higher in RE than in External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT); absorbed dose heterogeneity is thought to be one important reason, together with a low absorbed dose rate, but the knowledge of microsphere distributions is limited. 5. 5. Microcirculation in native and transplanted rodent pancreatic islets with special reference to the influence of diabetes mellitus

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Per-Ola Carlsson; Uppsala universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Diabetes; pancreatic islets; islet microcirculation; microspheres; micropuncture technique; islet blood flow; islet capillary pressure; oxygen tension; transplanted islets; Cellbiologi; MEDICINE Morphology; cell biology; pathology Cell biology; MEDICIN Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi Cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The aim of the present work was to characterize the islet microcirculation in animal models of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as in islets transplanted to diabetic or normoglycemic recipients. For this purpose, a microsphere technique was evaluated and applied for measurements of islet blood flow in mice. READ MORE
