  1. 21. Modelling the middle atmosphere and its sensitivity to climate change

    Author : Andreas Jonsson; Jörg Gumbel; Joanna Haigh; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; middle atmosphere; ozone; carbon dioxide; stratosphere; mesosphere; chemical kinetics; atmospheric tides; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : The Earth's middle atmosphere at about 10-100 km has shown a substantial sensitivity to human activities. First, the ozone layer has been reduced since the the early 1980s due to man-made emissions of halogenated hydrocarbons. READ MORE

  2. 22. Tectonics of the middle Ural

    Author : Magnus Friberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Geofysik med inriktning mot seismologi; Geophysics with specialization in Seismology;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the crustal structure and tectonic evolution of the Middle Urals. Theresults are based on near-vertical reflection seismic profiling, geological fieldobservations and single zircon geochronology,The Ural Mountains delimit. the eastern margin of Baltica. Prior to PalaeozoicUralian orogeny, this margin was bounded by an ocean. READ MORE

  3. 23. Risk faktors for fracture in middle-aged men and women

    Author : Anna H Holmberg; Ortopedi - klinisk och molekylär osteoporosforskning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; risk factors; women; men; middle age; low-energy fracture; diabetes; mental health; hyperglycaemia; Public health; Folkhälsa; epidemiology; Prospective cohort study; epidemiologi;

    Abstract : The number of fractures is increasing worldwide, and fractures frequently cause long-term disability, impaired quality of life and sometimes death. The Malmö Preventive Project, a population-based, prospective study, consisting of 22 444 men, mean age 44 and 10 902 women, mean age 50 years, provides data for evaluation of common public health conditions, such as fracture and diabetes. 4. 24. Middle Ear Pressure; A New Method for Continuous Direct Measurements

    Author : Bo Tideholm; allergi och livskvalitet Laryngoesofagologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Otorhinolaryngology; man; physiology; sleep; posture; pressure; patulous Eustachian tube; middle ear; Ear; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Abstract : Disturbances in the pressure homeostasis of the middle ear (ME) system cause a pressure gradient across the tympanic membrane lessen the effectiveness of sound transmission and may be associated to development of chronic ME disease. An equipment for continuous direct pressure measurements was developed and was found to be accurate, base-line stabile and portable. READ MORE

  5. 25. Microwave Radiometric Observations of the Middle Atmosphere: Simulations and Inversions

    Author : Patrick Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric radiative transfer; middle atmosphere; sub-mm; data inversion; profile retrieval; microwaves; limb sounding; ozone; remote sensing;

    Abstract : Two well-known examples of global environmental problems are the ozone depletion and the enhanced greenhouse effect. The importance and the complexity of these questions generate a demand for improved atmospheric observations, and microwave radiometry is an approach which is increasingly important for measurements of the middle atmosphere (10-100 km).
